I had been wanting to try the food and drinks here ever since I seen the patio while shooting photography down the street earlier this summer. When I finally got the chance to go back and try it recently, it didn’t disappoint. Everything from the appetizers to the drinks & meal itself were uniquely prepared and flavored. Most of all, It was all quite tasty! The chips (tostadas) come out round which you break into smaller sizes and dip into the various salsas they have. I HIGHLY recommend getting the salsa flight of (6) flavors as they are all equally unique. Our table couldn’t get enough of this appetizer. I had the (Elotes) corn on the cob with melted cheeses & seasoning for my meal. It was nothing short of amazing. Which is pretty significant because well, it’s corn on the cob. I even shared it with the others at the table who also raved about it. We all had various drinks which everyone enjoyed throughly. The various sangrias and Smokey Paloma were nothing short of delicious. The restaurant atmosphere is great, the decor & overall ambience phenomenal. The only way our trip could have been better is if you could have seen the water from the patio. Unfortunately the brush and buildings across the cobblestone road make it impossible to get a view like that. Also a word of advice, this place is huge and seems to always have a full house so I recommend calling ahead. And the parking is atrocious. Take an Uber if you can.

Great food and drinks. Service was pretty slow. We came in on the first nice Saturday of spring, so of course the patios everywhere were packed. We settled for seats at the bar here. We got our drinks ordered fairly quickly. It took a little while to get them, but they were quite good! Our food is what really took a long time. While we were waiting to eat, various people came to the bar to get drinks and it seemed like they struggled to get the attention of the bartenders. The food was pretty tasty when it arrived. Overall I'd chalk up the slow service to the sudden appearance of warm weather. I'll be back again to see how it goes. Update: I have since been back multiple times. When the place isn't overflowing with people the service is pretty good. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I've had almost everything on the menu and it is all delicious. And you can't beat it during patio weather! I'll be counting down the days until the snow melts and the sun shines again.

After a long day at the Stone Arch Art Festival (a bust, by the way) we stopped by Jefe. A line indicated either good food or others as tired as we. The host seated us at the last unreserved table with a caution that it was reserved in 2.5 hours. No problem for us as this was lunchtime and we knew we’d be quick. The menu is extensive and so many wonderful sounding choices! We decided on mahi mahi tacos, tacos birria del res, and mushroom tostada for our friend. I still dream about the fish taco. A cube-cut rectangle of moist, crunchy-outside fish nestled in mango salsa with avocado and radish slices was the best I’ve ever eaten and I have eaten many. The birria, shredded beef with a slaw and dipping sauce was equally yummy. Bobby and I ate one of each and were happily satisfied. Our friend loved her tostada, flavorful, moist, and plentiful. Service was extraordinary. Prices are moderate although my Margarita Primo was over-priced at $17.00.

The restaurant is situated in a fairly new St. Anthony's area/district. We wanted a seat on the patio and were lucky enough to get one after a 15 minute or so wait. Originally it was going to be a minimum of a 40 minute wait. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and has dim lighting, however plenty of natural night is let in. Everything on the menu looked delicious. I chose the carnitas tacos. They were amazing and would order them again. We saw more of the food runner than our server and had to ask for our drinks to be refilled on more than 1 occasion. I understand they were busy, however, he should have paid a little less attention to the table full of women and more of the other parties of 2 and 3 such as ours. Overall, enjoyed the restaurant and would return.

Overall about a 4.6. Very good food and service. They have a great deck/patio which was full and we decided to be inside which was also nice and all the windows open. Only 2nd time at Jefe, this experience was a little better than the first time but both were good. Definitely recommend. One thing that was odd was the Elote, which was served on the cob with a knife. This was bit tricky to manipulate with all the sauce and such (resulting 3x in slippage, in our case) - maybe just us but I would suggest either different prep, or different service (like street service wraps, or different utensils, etc.) In any case, drinks, food, atmosphere, service, all great.

This is my second time at Jefe Urban Cocina and I'm so glad I went back. I ordered the same things as my first time: strawberry margarita and the jefe sampler. Both were delicious and I like the option to try all their available sauces (the mango habanero salsa is a ⭐️. This time I tried the Carne Asada and it was spectacular. The meat was on point, the mashed potatoes full of flavor, creamy and chunky at the same time, the star was the chimichurri that complemented the dish perfectly. I was impressed with this dish and will be back for it. The restaurant has a very romantic and cozy atmosphere, the service is fast and exceptional.
