Many aspects in this establishment I fully enjoyed, ranging from the clientele to the music they played to some of the highlight food items that I will elaborate soon, this Black-owned business deserves a shoutout and people should definitely pay it a visit at least once, especially for the brunch when they have the mimosa flight which I would consider the highlight of my meal, even if I conventionally barely order drinks when eating out.
In terms of food, I have tried the crab boil wings once, and so did my partner when I returned there, and we both concluded that it was excessively salty while seasoned, so I think just reducing the salt would already help since it contained a good amount of flavor. My friend had the Philly scramble and we both ordered the chicken & waffles when I first went there with her, and we thought both dishes were solid, containing combinations of different ingredients that worked well together, basically. The Pimento Philly cheesesteak was great, especially because the meat was chopped well. I couldn't really taste the pimento cheese, though, as it tasted like it could be any other kind of cheese. The oxtail sliders had good caramelized onions while the beef was unfortunately dry. Using Hawaiian bread was a good choice, though, because it was sweet, offering a flavor contrast with the savory already in the sliders. As for the Cajun parmesan fries, I really couldn't taste any of the Cajun seasoning. I tasted parmesan for sure, and the fries, but not the Cajun. Finally, my partner who ordered the mussel frites had very positive comments about them, which I personally could not speak to.
One thing I would like to mention is that almost all of my dishes contained potatoes, ranging from appetizers (oxtail sliders, mussel frites) to the cheesesteak sandwich. It was definitely potato overload and I didn't know what to do with them. While I don't know if this is a coincidence, I think having other kinds of vegetables instead for some dishes, or at least as options, can offer more variety. Maybe greens, or maybe even broccoli lol.
Mimosa flight was my definite highlight because for $22 I tried four very different kinds of mimosas and was able to have a very good experience with my taste buds. I vaguely remembered two of them tasted relatively similar, but the flavors were still distinct enough!
Shoutout to their playlist that has so far always been on point with a bunch of old school R&B (we're talking about millennial here), and to their servers that brought my friend and I two glasses of champagne since they considered us having waited for too long when we didn't think...
Read moreMy wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Klassics Kitchen + Cocktails, and it was an experience that exceeded our expectations in every way. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance struck a perfect balance between chic sophistication and cozy warmth. The lighting, combined with tastefully selected decor, set the stage for a memorable evening.
The Food We decided to indulge in the "I Want It All Sampler," and it truly lived up to its name. This sampler offered a diverse array of appetizers that were all impeccably prepared. Each bite was a delightful journey through flavors and textures, with a perfect mix of spicy, savory, and tangy notes. The variety kept our taste buds engaged, and the portion size was generous enough to be shared comfortably.
The star of our meal, however, was the grilled lamb chops. Cooked to perfection, the lamb was tender, juicy, and seasoned with just the right amount of herbs and spices. The grill marks on the outside gave it a slightly smoky flavor, while the meat inside remained succulent and full of rich, earthy taste. The accompanying side dishes were thoughtfully chosen, complementing the lamb without overpowering it.
To finish off our meal, we treated ourselves to the peach cobbler upside-down cake. This dessert was nothing short of divine. The peaches were caramelized to perfection, creating a sweet, sticky topping that contrasted beautifully with the moist, tender cake underneath. The balance of sweetness was just right, and the hint of cinnamon added a warm, comforting touch. It was the perfect end to a fantastic meal.
The Service The service at Klassics Kitchen + Cocktails was exemplary. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring we had everything we needed. She was knowledgeable about the menu, offering insightful recommendations that guided our choices. The pacing of the meal was spot on, allowing us to enjoy each course without feeling rushed.
Conclusion: Klassics Kitchen + Cocktails is a gem of a restaurant that offers a dining experience that is both refined and relaxed. The "I Want It All Sampler," grilled lamb chops, and peach cobbler upside-down cake are all must-tries. Whether you're looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or simply want to enjoy a great meal with loved ones, this restaurant is an excellent choice. We left fully satisfied and eager to return for another...
Read moreSad because the atmosphere and place are nice but the service was trash and the food was mediocre at best and a very small quantity for the price. We were with a birthday party with reservations at 630 in their private area that they have dedicated to large parties so one would think they would really be on top of it but that was not true at all. We had one waitress for the whole table which I already knew was going to be a mess but anyways we all placed orders at the same time. Now we should all eat together as a group but we didn't. They started bringing out food and didn't know where it even went kept asking people who had what and so on. So others started eating while others waited because they had no food. Time passes and they bring out more food one which happened to be mine and they ask who has the sampler platter I say me yet they bring it down to someone else who came way later and they starting eating it. Now by this time my husband and daughter have gotten their food which is so small it was definitely not worth anywhere near $16 he had the curry fried chicken and she had the mill city cheeseburgers. There were three very mini sandwiches with a small toddler cup of fries which was more like an appetizer vs a meal. They are now done eating and the waitress comes to me to apologize for giving my food to someone else so I sit and wait. She brings me a drink of her choice and sits it down in front of me saying it's on the house for the mix up well I don't want a drink I want food so I don't drink it. I then wait some more and still no food but others are eating while some are still waiting. Now by this time it's 820 I'm over it because remember we sat down at 630 so I politely go up to her and tell her at this point I don't even want it because we are about to leave and my family has been done eating for at least 30 mins. She apologizes again but doesn't offer to give me the food to go just says she can cancel it and then ask can she get me anything ummm yeah my food would have been nice. She wanted to bring me a dessert I said sure bring me whatever you think is good. Large party fee was over $10 and they didn't deserve it. For a bill of $60 I feel cheated because I didn't eat and my family was still hungry it definitely was not worth my time or money. Servers are weird and all over the place. Oh and the dessert which I don't know what it was thick,...
