Let me start with a story. (Highly recommend getting your haircut here)
I have always been hesitant to go to barber shops because I’m gay and barbers can be weird about that. Guys get judgmental or quiet and closed off when I was around. When I first went and saw Chavez he was renting a chair on lake street at this small barber shop. It was not my usual scene I would go (I was platinum blonde at the time and usually went to Ulta for haircuts/colors) but it ended up becoming my go too. All the barbers loved seeing my hair get cut because it looked like it was “snowing” and Chavez was so kind and treated me as if I was a close friend. That small act of kindness inspired me to be more confident in myself and to push through awkward situations and be proud of who I am. I have since followed him all over Minneapolis for all my hair needs.
Watching him grow and develop his brand and passion has been amazing and such a privilege and honestly so beautiful. I am so happy for him opening Amadeuz Studio and wish him the world. I would still be going to him if I hadn’t moved to Seattle, but trust me when I visit MN I will book and see him because he’s that amazing.
I highly recommend getting in his chair or visiting any studio he has a hand in opening/running. He is an amazing man and even more phenomenal barber. Do yourself a favor and make him a part of your hair routine for a fresh style and meeting an...
Read moreI’ll keep it straightforward. Overpriced and barber was rough on my hair. Not exaggerating, I swear. My barber was Abel and he kept pulling my hair to my the point my eyes were being lifted. Never had a barber comb my hair after mousse applied to my hair? That hurts like hell. Had hair on my right leg but thankfully he blew it off but there’s still some. Then charged me $52??… Gaslighted myself cuz I thought it was $45. Ended up paying $5 for tip because common courtesy. So in total $57. I regret not asking why it was $52. Another barber saw the price after we couldn’t scan my card for the payment so there’s my witness. If that was the tip, he never told me. Idk man….been to many affordable barbershops and there are better places. Maybe it’s the barber, bad day? Going to ask a different barber to fix it. Im sorry trust me, I’m not rude. I’m just simply telling the truth. Below is what I wanted vs what I got. Drove home very pissed. I’m just laughing at my experience...
Read moreI have lived in 4 different states in the past 20 years and the hardest part of moving is not finding a place to live or work, it’s finding the right person that I can trust to cut my hair. My last 2 barbers I had been going to for over 7 years each. So when we moved to Minneapolis last summer, the first thing I knew I had to do was find my new barber.
I looked online and happened to live really close to where Chavez worked at the time. I was immediately drawn to his style and methods of hair cutting.
After my first cut with him I knew I made the right choice. He has a great eye and is open and honest about something if it doesn’t look right. I have a double cowlick so my hair is not easy to cut, however Chavez makes it look great each and every time. I have brought my son and referred both my nephews to Chavez.
As soon as he told me he was opening his own place, all I said was tell me where and when and I...
