Morristown Alister has a nice location and at first glance looked nice but rather pricey. What I didn't realize was the hole in the ground outside the unit, that they just kinda drove over with their golf cart, was a giant rat's nest. They get into the unit, chew on electrical cords, run around in the walls making scratching noises, eat your ramen, poo on your kitchen floor. The lady upstairs had her air conditioner unit fail because one crawled into it.
They also do not empty the recycling and trash dumpsters on a timely regular manner. The things overflow with garbage and cardboard all over the ground around the dumpsters. Perhaps this is related to the rat problem, but it was annoying to have to step over broken glass and rain-soaked stinky cardboard to throw out my trash.
Finally, their procedures on move-out are not what they say. Joel sent out an email saying on move out, if we did their inspections early they would give us a chance to repair or fix any deficiencies noted, so I rushed to move out before their inspection which was 2 weeks before my actual end of lease. Joel told me of no deficiencies when I went to their office to return the key (the office was supposed to open at 9 but no one was there until 10 and they made me wait in the heat). When they finally got around to returning my deposit, they docked off for damages to the hardwood floor from the rats they never dealt with. What a ripoff!
If you are driving around on their golf cart, look for the holes in the ground outside units that tell you rats are there.
Good points: gas stove, washer and dryer in unit, friendly dogs and cats around.
Bad points: not central air, heating also goes out in winter when super noisy boiler breaks and goes out of service, water main breaks, expensive, parking spots run out if you don't park early, rats, garbage all over the garbage areas overspilling the bins. The racist lady who shouts at your dog. Also that they "repair" the bathroom tile and grout by spray painting white...
Read moreAs a lifetime Morristown resident and a long-term tenant who has experienced three different owners at this property, I can confidently say that Alister Morristown has been a standout in my experience. I would wholeheartedly recommend Alister Morristown to anyone or a small family looking to start a new chapter in Morris County. The location is ideal, just a 20-minute drive from everything you might need, and it's set within a great school system.
What sets Alister Morristown apart is the remarkable effort put forth by the current management to ensure the happiness and comfort of its residents. Their dedication can shown in several ways:
Timely Maintenance Responses: The maintenance team's swift response to our needs has been impressive. It's reassuring to know that any issue in my apartment is addressed promptly, making living here hassle-free.
Landscape Maintenance:The property's landscaping is consistently well-maintained, which adds to the overall appeal of the community. It's clear that they take pride in creating an aesthetically pleasing environment.
Resident Engagements: The management goes above and beyond in hosting lively events and engagements for residents. It giv a sense of community and belonging, making Alister Morristown not just a place to live but a place to call home.
What I appreciate most is the approachability of the management (Joel). At times, I feel hesitant to bother them with minor concerns, but they have always been eager to assist and ensure our comfort and satisfaction. It's this level of dedication and attentiveness that truly sets Alister Morristown apart from the rest.
We are now in a housing market where renting an apartment can be challenging, I've enjoyed my time here, and I have no reservations in recommending...
Read moreJoel showed me the apartment via a video tour and it was exactly how it looks in the photos - I was shocked that truth in advertising actually exists, my apartment is charming, quiet, well built, has nice hardwood floors, is well maintained, has updated appliances (I’m from NYC, so this is fantastic, and it’s a joy to wash my clothes whenever I feel like it!), lots of sunlight, a beautiful surrounding neighborhood, which is walkable, lots of light, closet space, neighbors who are polite and decent, and appear to have jobs, or a creative purpose and/or some important endeavors, which is refreshing after living in the East Village :) There are social gatherings in warmer weather, but I arrived mid-November, so I can’t report on that, but downtown Morristown is close by, so there’s plenty of places for eating out and socializing. I would recommend getting a reserved parking space. It’s not expensive and is worth it at the end of a long day, as parking is scarce after 5:30pm.
Joel is extremely responsive, responsible, open to suggestions, works really hard because he has high standards and seems to be the only one managing the place, though he runs a tight ship and somehow still has a great sense of humor. I met one maintenance person and he was on top of it. I feel lucky to have discovered this place and I won’t be moving for a...
