Called to pre order the Animal Crossing edition Switch console. Employee over the phone stated he would put me on the pre order list but it was not a pay up front system in that if they get the console in they would call me and I come in and pay for it. Employee reassured me they would most likely have enough systems though and not to worry. Very clearly communicating about the special edition console. Days go by after the system release and no call. Finally I call the store to check on the status of my pre order. Employee states they wrote me down for the game and not the console. When it was very clearly in regards to the console both he and I were discussing previously. States there was some confusion on which item I was pre ordering. Why would I be calling to preorder a non-special edition game that is also available for digital download. You would think this place is very familiar with pre ordering video game systems, however I am proven wrong. I would not trust this business for any preordering in the future. The most questionable part of the whole debacle is the employee told me he actually did not have my name on the console preorder list before I even gave him my name. As if something had already been pre determined in regard to my...
Read moreI love what this place has to offer. Unfortunately in an era of online shopping, I want it now thinking, and big box stores people tend to forget how great small businesses can be and this is a great example. Will you truly get great trade value anywhere? No! Because this is a brick and mortar that needs to pay bills, employees, and make money. If you REALLY need to make money off your games, then do it the old fashioned way and sell directly to another person! Don't leave pointless reviews about how a store didn't give you full retail value for your game because that's not how it works. I find their prices to be fair across the board. A little high on some things and a bit low on others, but overall fair. They don't have hundreds of stores nationwide, they have two! I will absolutely drive 40 minutes to visit this store again. I will support this business after years GameFlop muscling it's way into every town, and pushing so many great shops out. Game Trader cares about gaming, the history of gaming, and the community of gamers around it. Thank you...
Read moreI came in with a few Assassin's Creed games, plus Star Wars Battlefront. I tried to trade them in at Play N' Trade, but they didn't want them, which is fair enough. The gentleman at GameTrader took a quick look at them and said he could offer me $3. So I asked, "$3 cash or store credit?" He said store credit, since they were so low in value. So I declined and said that I would take them elsewhere. Then, he condescendingly responded, "You probably won't get anything for them elsewhere." I replied that I'd probably just keep them and left. Overall, the guy just has a short man complex.
Edit: My apologies, but I’m not sure who Jamie is. That said, constructive feedback is a natural part of running a business, and being open to it can go a long way in building positive customer relationships.
Edit 2: It looks like the owner removed their response — a clear sign they’re not open to handling criticism.
Edit 3: They re-added their reply. Not sure what this...
