Normally I would write a five start review for this particular Waffle House. But....
Lets start by saying this. My daughter who is 4 and myself frequent this particular Waffle House on the weekends for our Daddy-Daughter Dates. Recently we were in for our weekend breakfast. It was not super busy, but for whatever reason it seemed very disorganized that day. We were seated in a timely fashion by the gentleman who always sits us and says hello to my daughter and myself. Next one waitress too our order. After placing our orders that's where it all unraveled. We sit at the corner of the L in direct eye sight with the entire kitchen and staff. I watched as my waitress handed my ticket to the caller. I watched my ticket get shuffled to the back Everytime a new ticket got handed in to call. Mine didn't get called. Not one time. I know because I watched and I order the same thing each time and so does my daughter. I'm long-time Waffle House customer. We sat patiently for almost an hour. So much confusion in the kitchen on the line. I watched seven other customers who came in after get their food over and over. Still my four year old and I sat patiently. My waitress kept apologizing. I said it isn't your fault. She alertedd the manager, who didn't see to care and then that manager pulled a cook off the line and put her in as the caller of orders. The manager was originally the caller. The manager never came and talked to me even after my waitress pointed me out to her. Instead the now caller, who was the cook pretended to be a manager and came and tried to talk to me but didn't seem to care. I explained I wanted to talk to the manager and that she wasn't there manager she again tired to tell me she was. I asked out waitress if she was and she said no and that she explained to her I knew she wasn't before she came over and did it anyways.
I never lost my cool. Paid my bill and tipped my waitress and the door man nicely as always. It was just POOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE from the manager and manager fake. This needs to be addressed by upper management. You've could've lost a 35 yr customer who loves Waffle House and enjoys taking his daughter there who...
Read moreGreat food, filthy restaurant. I hate to say that, too, because I'm a Waffle House junkie. See the pictures - I was there about a half hour, and I walked on this food going in, and I walked on it again going out. At no point did any associate pick up a broom. Yes, they were taking orders, delivering food, totaling checks and working the register... but how long would it take to sweep? I saw the kitchen staff sort of standing there after the orders were done - and I'm sure they were tired and needed the break. But unless there's some obscure Waffle House rule that says cooks can't clean up the dining room, they could have grabbed a broom to quickly clean up their handiwork. Ms. Sandra is a gem of an associate, and the food was consistent with the deliciously high standard I have for Waffle House. If the management were to set up a mandatory all-hands sweep/mop/wipe evolution every half hour, on the half hour, that place would gleam: and the restaurant's appearance would be as good as the food it serves.
UPDATE 3/8/18: Okay, so I was starving and decided to give this restaurant another chance. I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit plate off the $5 menu (my Usual #1). It was called accurately, but Grill Dude A on the meat grill mistakenly pulled three strips of bacon, instead of the two that a biscuit calls for. The fact was not lost on Grill Dude B, who had my plate ready and waiting for the bacon. When he saw the third strip of freshly-cooked bacon flop onto my biscuit, he casually plucked it off and tossed it back on the grill... presumably to be used in a future order? Who knows? I had plenty of time to snap a photo of the errant bacon, because it sat on the grill until I left. Here's a question for the management: what is the Waffle House wholesale cost of ONE slice of bacon? Would it really have bankrupted your corporation to just leave that third strip of bacon on the biscuit? And did a future customer really pay for freshly-cooked bacon and unknowingly get a slice that's been hanging out for a while? That's not only incredibly cheap, it's thoroughly classless. Thanks for the memories. I'll be sure to visit a different Waffle House...
Read more02/12/2023 We decided to go to our local Waffle House for Brunch. Our normal Waffle House on Old Fort Parkway in Murfreesboro was full so we ventured across the interstate on Old Fort to the Waffle House 1/2 mile away which is the Armory Rd location. Upon arrival we seated ourselves and our server “Miyah” (spelling) approached us and took our order. I order the Cheesesteak and hash browns. The hash browns were to be “chunked” (ham chunks) and “peppered” (jalapeño slices). My wife had the “all star” and the kids had a waffle and a grilled cheese. The food arrived within 15 minutes and was prepared very well except for the ham and peppers being left out of my hash browns. After bringing us our food we never were visited by our server again…no drink refills…no how’s everything tasting…nothing. I ordered unsweetened tea and had to go to the counter to get my own sweetener! 10 minutes after we finished our meal our server showed up with the check. I walked to the cash register to pay and requested a “to go box” for a waffle. The most frustrating part of this story is that there were 7 employees counting the cook and only 3 tables of diners, and I couldn’t even get a drink refill! Busy or not I think I’ll stick with the Old Fort location in the future. This was the first time in 34 years of eating at a Waffle House that I’ve didn’t leave a tip. A “refill” and a simple “who’s the food” would’ve sufficed. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!...
