UPDATE 2/16/2025: It is truly astonishing that instead of addressing valid concerns about poor food quality and service, Uptown Bistro has chosen to slander customers with outright lies and threats. Let’s be absolutely clear: •Every point in my review was truthful and based on our firsthand experience. •We never ate the meals because they were unacceptable, and we were asked to leave by your manager instead of being offered a resolution. •We offered to pay for the drinks, but your manager refused and told us to leave. Despite this, my husband returned immediately today upon reading your outlandish response and paid in full for the drinks. Interestingly, your team could not produce an itemized receipt and instead charged an absurd $150 for 2 strawberry mojitos, 1 reg mojito, 2 Miller Lites, 1 liquor drink, and 1 glass of wine. (Receipt attached) •Your claim that we have an “open tab of over $300” is a complete fabrication, and any attempt to pursue this false claim further will be met with legal action for defamation and harassment.
Furthermore, your use of hostile, threatening language, calling us “low life thieves” and falsely accusing us of theft, is not only grossly unprofessional—it is legally libelous. Publicly accusing customers of criminal behavior they did not commit is a serious matter and exposes your business to legal and reputational consequences.
Your response, more than anything, shows exactly why diners should avoid your establishment at all costs—not just due to the abysmal food and service, but because of your shocking lack of professionalism, integrity, and basic business ethics.
Consider this your formal notice to cease and desist from spreading false and defamatory claims immediately.
2/15/2025: We had high hopes for this new upscale steakhouse, but the experience was a complete disappointment. While the ambiance was beautiful, the food and service were abysmal. •The strawberry mojitos, highlighted on the cocktail menu, were made with artificial syrup, making them overly sweet. •Our drinks went unattended for over 30 minutes. •The bread was hard and dry. •The French onion soup was so salty it was inedible—and it was served without a spoon, requiring us to flag down a random waiter (which took five minutes). •The wedge salad was warm, clearly having sat out too long. •Our server had no personality, was absent most of the time, and showed no interest in ensuring a good experience. •It took 1 hour and 40 minutes for our meals to arrive—and when they finally did, it was a disaster.
Among the four of us: • A filet mignon, ordered medium, was cold and raw in the middle, served with mashed potatoes instead of the requested baked potato—without any explanation. • A bone-in ribeye arrived without the bone, was paper-thin, and looked like something from a frozen dinner. • A chopped salad and baked potato were instead a garden salad and mashed potatoes. The waitress dropped them at the table and without apology stated they were out of baked potatoes—(at a steakhouse with five-star pricing!) so substituted mashed potatoes without asking the guest. When questioned about the salad, she insisted it was the chopped salad, until we pulled up the menu and pointed out the difference. When it came back, the missing ingredients were added, but it was certainly not “chopped.” • A penne dish with grilled chicken arrived with undercooked, pink chicken—a serious food safety risk.
None of us took a single bite of our meals. After repeatedly asking for a manager, we were ignored until one of us had to track her down. When she finally came over, she showed zero concern and told us we could leave—rather than making any effort to fix the situation.
For a restaurant that clearly had a significant investment put into it, the lack of quality, service, and accountability is shocking. These aren’t just typical “new restaurant” growing pains—they’re fundamental failures. If they don’t make serious changes, I don’t see this place lasting long. Save your money and go elsewhere until they figure things out—if they...
Read moreThere were 8 (4 couples) for dinner on 27 May. Arrived a little before 5:30 and were greeted professionally and seated. The place looked very nice. It is very new and looked it and everything was very clean. There were 3 other tables with diners. Everyone ordered beer or wine, one mixed drink. Meals ordered were chopped salad with chicken and ranch dressing, linguini and clams x2, shrimp scampi (?), goat cheese and beet salad, penne ala vodka (no chicken), pesto chicken pasta and cheese ravioli sub in bolognaise for the marinara/cream sauce. I'll cover these in order. Before the meals were served the first wines and beer arrived....about 30 minutes after ordering them. There were two people at the bar, not sure why a wine pour takes soooo long. Chopped salad - not the definition of a chopped salad. A chopped salad should allow for a mixing of the ingredients to enjoy more than one thing in each bite. Pieces were so large that one piece of lettuce was almost too big for a bite. It also came with the incorrect dressing and no chicken. Linguini with clams - very good! Shrimp scampi - very good! Goat cheese and beet salad - very good! Penne ala vodka - tasted good, but lukewarm. Pesto chicken - not good, said the pesto was "dry" which is probably hard to achieve and the chicken was dry and rubbery. He mentioned this to the waiter...more on that later. Cheese ravioli with bolognaise - tasted good, at best lukewarm. The meals did not arrive remotely together, which isn't a huge thing, we get it, but the ravioli diner ate his, not incredibly fast, but a little faster than normal, before it got any colder and was finished before the last order of clams and linguini came out (the clam dinners came out 10-15 minutes from each other. The manager (?) came by and checked in with the women's side of the table, but they said the had no issues...the men were unaware of this. Second drinks arrived about 15 minutes after the last meal was served. These were quicker but still took about 15 minutes, and the two at the bar were gone at this point. When we were asked for to go containers Pesto chicken told the waiter he didn't want to take his home as it wasn't good. No reply from the waiter. When the waiter came back with containers someone else asked wasn't he curious what was wrong with the pesto chicken, he said he already let the manager know there was a problem. Checks arrived. Charged for the pesto dinner. Another diner had two glasses of house Chardonnay (which was what was ordered) charged as not house chard (more expensive wine). Manager never did stop by to see what was up with the pesto chicken. 20% tip added, it was a party of 8 and that is totally reasonable as people are often stingy. But the tip was not deserved/earned. I really expected better from the ambiance...
Read moreThere is a new upscale fine dining restaurant in Myrtle beach . Uptown Bistro and Bakery (@uptownbistromb ) opened recently for breakfast and lunch and on the 6th of February opened for dinner. Last night Annie (@anniessweetstuff ) and I went on a date night and absolutely fell in love with Uptown Bistro. From the minute you walk in your taken aback by the beauty and elegance of this restaurant, we were immediately invited in and shown to our table . The wait staff all dressed in black were welcoming, friendly and prompt . Live music played in the background as we sat and ordered our drinks , a classic mojito for Annie and a Grand Margarita for me , both were refreshing and delicious, mixed to perfection. Our appetizers were French Onion soup for Annie and 6 oysters on the half shell for me , Annie’s soup thick with mozzarella , bread and caramelized onions with plenty of broth , I know it was delicious because Annie finished it completely! , my oysters were large , chilled nicely and fresh , served elegantly with three choices of additives…cocktail sauce, horseradish and a vinegar based sauce . For our meals Annie picked the 10oz Filet with baked potato and Brussel sprouts, filet was seared beautifully with a nice char and cooked perfectly to order (medium rare) , potato was large with extra butter as per Annie’s request, and Brussel sprouts tasty and full of flavor , I went for the Seared Chilean sea bass with white lemon butter served over mashed potatoes, the sea bass beautifully cooked , light and flakey tasted wonderful, the mashed potatoes were amazing , just full of flavor and added just the right something to this dish. Our server for this evening was Jurgen , he was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, never rushing us but always making sure we were completely satisfied with our dining experience. The owner came around , introduced herself and talked with us a bit , she was even so gracious to show me all around the restaurant, the bar area beautiful and comfortable, the “sun room” area has plenty of seating and the outside deck area was so large and glamorous. Uptown Bistro serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is a new go to spot...
