Well, after coming here for the last 10 years prior to moving here and then being regulars, we won't be coming back. My wife ordered 1 egg, toast, and 2 sausage patties and an order of home fries and a sweet tea. I ordered the omelet, coffee and the pancakes as a side, in lieu of grits(not a fan of them). I ordered the home fries for $.99 extra like it showed on the menu. The waitress comes back and tells me that because I ordered the pancakes and not the grits it was $4.25 for home fries!!! I was in disbelief! I told her the menu said $.99 for home fries. I asked her to call the owner over. I asked him why it was $4.25 for an order of home fries. He said it was because I ordered the pancakes and not the grits. I asked him to show me where on the menu it says if I DO NOT order grits I have to pay $4.25 for home fries. He told me he didn't have his glasses, then proceeds to read the menu. I asked him how he justifies charging $4.25 for home fries? He tells me prices have gone up and he has to pay the help etc. I thought that was a crock because he's charging $.99 for the same home fries with grits!! -Now mind you-if I had ordered the grits home fries were $.99 extra!! The omelet was lukewarm, as was the coffee. The pancakes were good-Oh-for two pancakes -over 5 bucks if purchased separately. I told the owner that if he's going to charge $4.25 for an order with pancakes-he needs to put that on the menu. He was cordial about it but he never explained his logic for charging $4.25 with pancakes as opposed to $.99 with grits-AND,AND- the portion size of the home fries was a small, and I mean a small ice cream bowl! I'm not opposed to a business making a profit-but this guy is GOUGHING folks. :( Oh yeah-My bill was OVER $30.00. NOT going back. I even asked if there was a discount for locals-the waitress says yes, but you have to tell them at the counter. At the counter the lady taking the money says no, ever since prices went up they don't offer it. Save your money go elsewhere folks-and we drove down from Little River-plenty of other places to go a lot...
Read moreThis place has a homey feel. I have been here about seven times and they have never disappointed me…..ummmm where is a six star at because they need one?! Everything I have eaten here I have liked. I did get the shrimp and grits once and it was just okay to me but I am suuuper picky when it comes to this particular dish. Be prepared to wait if you come on a day that it is more frequented. You will notice anyone waiting is very patient and doesn’t seem to mind because they know they are about to be treated nice and eat a decent meal. There is nothing like being away from home and having a place that is consistent, you don’t have to wonder what you are about to get, and your change purse ain’t about to be emptied. They always have specials on the board as far as I know there is always a mimosa one. I’m always a getting coffee even though I’m not really a coffee drinker like that it just feels right here. They give you a lil pot to refill it and the syrup is nice and warm. The tables are always stocked and you will see these ladies wiping down and restocking constantly. Everyone seems to be pitching in to help with whatever regardless of what their position is, they understand that teamwork makes the dream work. One day ima get a mimosa because they always sound good and when I see tables of people getting them sometime I feel a little jealous. I mean, I don’t know about you but I get food envy sometime when I look around at a restaurant. My son got the chicken melt special today and after he took his second bite he asked me if he could please have another one to go. You guys like I said the food is pretty decent here. These ladies always get some of my coins when I visit...
Read more7/20/24 I found this place just googling pancake places near me. When we went in we were told there was a 10 minute wait which isn't bad at all. We were seated within 5 minutes and the place was packed. Working retail we expected to have a substantial wait for our food based on the amount of people inside. The waitress was at our table in a few minutes and had our drinks to us very quickly. We ordered Gimme Some Sugar and the vodka with cranberry juice. She took our order which consisted of blueberry pancakes and sausage for me and an omelet with pancakes and grits for my husband. Our food arrived within 10 minutes and it was fresh and hot. The portions are a good size and the food was excellent. Neither one of us could finish. The service is comparable to chick filet. It was fascinating to see everyone work together. Our waitress was attentive and despite all the tables being full she made time to chat with us every time she came over. We ended up spending $80. That included our food, specialty drinks which were about $10 each and a t-shirt. We also left a generous tip to our waitress. She was amazing. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Honestly, I would've given atmosphere a 4.5 stars because it was loud but not loud enough that we had to raise our voices to much to hear each other. I left it at 5 because the place is small. We'd still go back. This is now one of our...
