Local Chef downtown & I honestly give them 3 Stars... The quality of their seafood and the species available at the time of my visit was good, Surprisingly they offered Trippletail!!! Sadly they're a little over priced. They say its Market Price on their fish! An example; their Black Grouper for which I buy daily at 19.50 per lb is priced at $27, that is Not Market Price! Just give the price you wish to sell at without saying "Market Price" Its easily Googled by the average patron! The Hushpuppies I tried were nice, they were cooked perfectly, nice size, nice portion, but were under seasoned, they needed salt to elevate the flavors inside! I had a Trippletail Sandwich, Seared with Salt & Pepper, the accompanying sauce was okay(not incredible) The Bun was actually the Star of this entire visit... They serve a piece of high quality Hydro Bib lettuce & a nice slice of Ripe Beefsteak Tomato with the sandwich. No straw for my coke. Very busy, unattentive front of house staff, Bathroom was trashed (only one small unisex bathroom) Paper towels all over the floor! The kitchen line looked tiny but clean & the cooks looked clean shaved & cleanly dressed, not with filthy aprons. When you walk in its a bit of a solo journey, you seat yourself, No Greeting or anything, just find a place to sit and eventually someone will come! They also didn't have any paper menu's, they made me scan a QR card at the table for the menu, ( im not technology savvy & that was frustrating) I just wanted a menu to choose something to eat. So long story short this was my first experience at Captain & Krewe! I am not bashing this restaurant, this is my opinion during my first visit! The food was satisfying, I was full... All and all an okay seafood dinner, nothing incredible, just good Fresh Seafood. Will I return??? I think I will give them another try! The Sampler on small plates looked interesting & sounded delicious! They have a Fresh Raw Bar, with freshly opened Oysters, Stone Crab(in season) So i will be back one day to give them another try! Worth a visit if downtown. Just off 5th Ave within walking distance from 5th Ave across from the park! My honest review....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDisclaimer: This place discriminates against young mothers and babies. Iāve been coming to captain and krewe every week for taco Tuesday and been a loyal customer for months if not years. Weāve ordered catering from them for holidays and today is the last day I will ever step foot in that place due to terrible service. I ordered a pick up order and upon approaching I saw a bunch of empty tables (itās first come first serve - they donāt take reservations so I wouldnāt be taking anyoneās table). I had my stroller with my child and did not want to wake him from his nap and I decided to ask to get seated inside switching from take out to table service so I could eat my lunch as my child slept. I did not pay for my meal yet and told them I would still be ordering drinks and of course tip/ pay for my entire meal with service since I would be staying. She said sheād ask and said the owner told me NO! She said āsometimes heās grumpy and I guess todays that day.ā Can you imagine telling a customer that with a straight face as if that is a valid excuse?! They literally said I would not be allowed to eat there! I was in disbelief and went inside to talk to the owner and pay for my takeout and he told me no with an attitude. Even after I explained I would actually be spending more money and tipping! How does this make sense! For example, if someone wanted to come on another time for just a drink they would be seated and served without issue. A customer can come in at the bar or a regular table and order wine and leave right? So why couldnāt I? Why couldnāt I spend more money at this establishment when tables were open? Iāll tell you. They discriminate. After all this, I still had enough class and paid for the take out order instead of leaving it there (which I honestly should have done). People arenāt dollar signs. They are people. I guess āgrumpinessā comes at a cost. You lost my business. If you canāt treat people with respect then you shouldnāt get my business. I will never be coming here again and will be telling friends and family of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is really hard to rate because on one hand, I didnāt have a bad experience, but on the other hand, it wasn't a memorable experience either because I have eaten here before and had completely forgotten until I entered.
The place was completely empty when we walked in and instead of greeting us, the staff just stared at us as though we had disrupted a very important conversation. We had a party of 5 and wanted to sit outside but they said we couldn't because of some odd excuse about a city ordinance, so we settled on adding a chair to our table and sitting inside(no ordinance against that I guess). FYI; No tables here are designed to seat more than 4 people which is not good for most vacationing families/groups.
After being seated, we took a look at the menus. After inspecting the one page that they handed me, I flipped it over to see what else they had, but was sorely disappointed when it only contained the name of the restaurant. The selection is quite thin and not anything that you would expect when going to a seafood restaurant. Basically it was a section labeled "Small Plates" and a section labeled "Sandwiches". They have no entrees, no seafood platters, no fried shrimp, no french fries. No plates come with sides: you have to order them, which stinks because the food is already expensive.
I was hungry so I ordered the lobster roll (it was $20 since it was the only one that came with fried potato slices for a side). My parents got half sandwich with soup. My dad and I each got a couple of draft beers. One kid got a quesadilla, the other got the kids fish. The food was not bad, but it wasn't $100 good, which was what our bill was.
The positive and saving grace for this place, which was why I bumped them up to 2 stars was that after the initial iceberg greeting, the staff was friendly.
But with that said, I probably won't go back because there are too many good restaurants in Naples to...
