My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in Jan. 2020. We enjoyed it! Good room with excellent provisions including microwave, refrigerator, Keurig coffee, balcony. Floors in the room are tile, which did not feel good under bare feet, but it is attractive (it's a common Florida thing). The large windows of the balcony doors were perfectly clean! Very nice. Good balcony, but the beds sagged and some of the vertical blind slats fell off every day. Bathroom is extremely small but okay, possibly a Euro-style layout where the sink is outside the bathroom in common area. From the room, views of the marina and bay are beautiful. The grounds are well landscaped and maintained. The hotel property is surprisingly quiet as there was no construction or renovations going on during our stay (whew). Nice hotel lobby but not big, and there is a nice big informal tiki bar along dock (credit cards are not accepted at the bar). There is no free breakfast and no coffee in lobby during morning or anytime. This is a big, sprawling hotel on the edge of a beautiful marina. Very good value. Any time you can get a room in classy waterfront community with a balcony and a great marina/bay view for $208 per night, you are fortunate. The $208 per night includes tax and Resort Fee. I don't like resort fees. It feels like some kind of trickery, hiding total costs and making it difficult to understand true costs. I never give top rating to hotels that charge a resort fee. We wanted breakfast but on Saturday at 8:45am there was a 25-minute wait at the small on-site coffee shop for breakfast. So we drove to IHOP. The next 3 days we were able to have breakfast at the coffee shop (located off the hotel lobby) without waiting and it was very good. Here, typical breakfasts cost about $12 per person. There are other conveniences nearby. It is nice to have several upscale restaurants within an easy walk, all with waterfront views, but it's also convenient to have an inexpensive, popular pizza shop (Italian platters, sandwiches, beer, ice cream) and souvenir shop within a one block walk....so at this resort you can go upscale, or lowbrow, your choice. We enjoyed the adjacent City Dock which is a busy, fun marina pier (open to the public and free). Eyesore alert: I would be remiss if I did not mention that near our hotel room, at the west end of the Cove Inn, there is a large 3 or 4-story building sitting vacant and incomplete, immediately adjacent to Cove Inn. Construction is stalled as the developer and the city are suing each other over code issues. So currently there is a building that is a bad neighbor, but honestly it did not affect us very...
Read moreMy wife and I recently stayed at your hotel on Saturday, October 4th. We’ve always enjoyed staying here in the past and have even recommended it to friends, especially because of the relaxing environment and the opportunity to fish right from the docks.
Unfortunately, this recent stay turned into one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had. From the moment we settled in, we were relentlessly bitten by mosquitoes throughout the night. At one point, I felt like I was being stung by multiple insects on my neck at once – the sensation was almost like being shocked. Despite our exhaustion, we were unable to sleep and spent the night under the sheets, constantly scratching and swatting at bugs that somehow still found us.
I called the front desk during the night to explain the issue. They instructed us to speak with someone in the morning. When I did so, the gentleman at the desk simply told me to file a complaint and mentioned that the property had been sprayed and tented — though based on our experience, I strongly doubt it was effective.
My wife and I were both covered in bites — I counted over 50 on my body and she had around 30. They were on our necks, heads, arms, hands, between our fingers, legs, feet, and toes. We even took photos to document the extent of the bites. We were so uncomfortable, itchy, and swollen that we had to cut our trip short and book another hotel for the next night. Our planned relaxing getaway turned into a miserable experience that affected us for days afterward.
What’s most disappointing is how dismissive the staff seemed about our suffering. We didn’t feel heard or supported during or after the incident, which only added to our frustration and discomfort.
We are reaching out not only to express how distressing this experience was but also in the hope that you take this seriously and ensure no other guest has to endure what we went through. We’d appreciate a formal response, including what steps will be taken to address this issue and whether compensation will be offered for the night we couldn’t even sleep due to...
Read moreI’m going to break up this review with the pros and cons. (2 adults, 3 small children 8 and under)
Pros: The marina is nice for the kids. They loved fishing off the docks. The little bar by the pool had a server named Jane, she was great! The coffee cafe inside the hotel was one of the best things! The service was amazing. They were also very quick in serving up the food. (Haveing 3 small children this is great perk) not only were they quick the food was good!
Cons: unfortunately the rooms took off most of the stars. The first night we loved our room, it was perfect for our family. However when I woke up at 1am to go to the bathroom there was 3 German roaches on the towels we were suppose to wash up with and on the walls! (if you don’t know German roaches mean infestation they are the worst ones to see!) I live in Florida we have the occasional palmetto 🪳 you kill it and move on. This was bad, I killed all three, woke up to make my baby’s bottle at 3am I had 4 more roaches near the sink. At this point I grabbed all of our bags and put them in my truck at 3am! We could not sleep after that. I called the reception first thing in the morning to move our room. They did , they upgraded our room to an efficiency. We retrieved all our things from the truck, went into the lobby and the elevator did not work! The employee at the counter is just staring at my husband and I with all our bags and trying to hold my 1 year olds and and trying to navigate my 4 year old. After asking him where the room is he said I had to go up the 3 flights of stairs and through these doors. Did not offer help or offer someone to help us. After looking at the reviews here the elevator has been down for months. This use to be a family vacation spot for my husband and his family.. we tried it but unfortunately don’t think we will be back. They could of refunded me for the room we could not sleep in because of all...
