While the general experience of the theater was alright, I had a poor experience at the concession stand. I am not one to write bad reviews and it doesn't usually matter to me, but this left a particularly bad taste in my mouth. I bought a medium drink and handed the cashier, a young person with bright pink hair, $9 in cash. Without saying a word to me, the cashier left my drink on the counter closer to the cashier side (not an accessible place for me to grab), put the receipt face down on the counter, and walked away without handing me my change. They turned around and started talking to another employee, messing with something and not handing me my change. I picked up my receipt and saw I was owed ¢.37, and so I stood there expecting my change. I probably stood there for a solid minute before I asked "Am I going to get my change?" and the other employee had to get the attention of the pink-haired cashier. Without looking at me, they said "Oh yeah, give me a minute" and walked to the back. I stood there without my drink, change, or an explanation. Moments went by where employees passed by me, and I still didn't have my change or any clue as to what was going on. Eventually, a manager appeared and opened the cash register, (still offered no explanation for my wait) and then stood there a moment before waving over the cashier, who instead of walking over to help me, started restocking the empty drink cups by the registers. After a moment they realized I was waiting and explained that they accidentally bumped the register closed and had to get a manager to open it. I was finally handed my change and left with my drink. However, when I walked away, I realized after a moment that I didn't have a straw. I asked my husband to go get one and he stood in line for a few minutes before I went over there, as our movie was set to start soon. The cashier was there and I got their attention and asked for a straw, to which they said "Oh yeah I was gonna give you one but you ran off." I got my straw and left.
To be clear, the fact of the register bumping closed is not the issue. The issue is that I was left without a clue as to what's going on, without my drink or change. And honestly, if the cashier had just explained "hey I'm sorry, I bumped the register closed and it's gonna take 5 minutes to get a manager over here, are you okay with that?" I probably would have opted to leave my change and move on since it was an insignificant amount. The problem is that I was ignored, no one communicated the issue to me, and then despite all my waiting I was told I "ran off" before I could be handed an essential part of my order. It was incredibly frustrating and a bit embarrassing, as I didn't want to be rude, but I also wanted what I was owed. I understand the job isn't always enjoyable (I've worked fast food and retail service for YEARS), but I feel as though I am due a higher level of basic respect than that.
That all being said, the rest of the employees were kind to me and the facilities were very clean. I hope this was just a bad day, as I would like to come back in the...
Read moreWent to see Avengers: End Game, opening night, Thursday 25Apr for the 5pm Opening Night Fan Event. Had pre purchased tickets, went to box office to get items that came with the Fan Event. Was told to go inside to ticket taker, because they didn't know anything about it. The woman working the ticket taking stand, had no idea what the Fan Event was and said she didn't know of any items we were supposed to get. Got in line for concessions, kind of had to since part of the overpriced Fan Event tickets, was supposed to be "free" drink and popcorn. Was in line for over 45 minutes. People in front of us and in lines next to us, had the coins we were supposed to get, had to go to other ticket taker who actually knew about the Fan Event. Also those ahead of us were ALL getting a collectable cup and large popcorn tin, as part of the Fan Event. We finally got to front of line and were told to pick out which tins we wanted. We picked them out and then suddenly an older woman came over and said something to the kid. He then took the tins and said we didn't get them, that we only got a small popcorn. I asked why everyone else had gotten them. He said they weren't told anything about the event and just thought they were supposed to give them out. That the managers didn't tell them anything about the event and they were just told some people would have Fan Event tickets, about an hour before the scheduled time. We were then told we had to pay $20 if we wanted to get a tin. After already spending over $50 for just TWO tickets, I didn't want to spend $40 for the 2 tins, so I did buy the one my son wanted. There was no managers around on a huge opening night. The concession "manager" said it was all a big miscommunication, because her managers didn't know what the Fan Event was supposed to actually have. Even though the people how were directly in front of us got their 3 free tins, we got just the plastic cup and small popcorn, because she "just realized" the tins were only supposed to be sold for $20 each. WORSE, the movie was in the back of the theater, in one of their small screen theaters, #20. Sound was horrible, compared to our Regal in Hendersonville. Seats were old and very uncomfortable, not just comparing them to the much better recliners at most of the other Regals in the Nashville area. Movie was NOT in IMAX, just a regular screen projector in 2D. For over $25 a ticket and all we got was a small coin and a plastic cup and a small popcorn. Total rip off. Will not ever recommend the Opry Mills Mall Regal again. Won't be coming back until they make some MAJOR changes. This place was nice 10 years ago. Don't think anything has changed in that time.
ONLY reason for two stars, rather than just one, was that the movie...
Read moreAfter typing, this became a long winded review, so the tldr; version is a decent theater overall (tight rows compared to most stadium seating and seats could be better), but some severe lack of management common sense keeps it from being great. Running with short staff, particularly in box office a concession. No backup runners in concession. Constant light movement in projection room throughout the film.
I’ve visited this theater on a few different occasions when visiting Nashville, with this weekend being the most recent. Given that “Avengers: Endgame” was looking to be the biggest cinema opening in history, we purchased tickets with assigned seats online a couple weeks ago, and as such arrived at the theater a little over an hour early. The first thing that caught my eye was that even at prime time Saturday night on “Avengers” weekend, not even every box office register was staffed. Getting inside, the lines for entrance to the auditorium each had only one person operating, resulting in lines to the door. Luckily, this moved relatively fast as my particular showing had been moved to an auditorium on the other side (ticket email showed 20, but our showing had been moved to 10), so I got to go through the line twice. During this time, we noticed concession lines were also backed to the door, so after confirming which screen, I got in the concession line. This was a full 50 minutes before showtime. Even that early, I still barely made it in time for the start of the movie (missed the previews) and never even had time to use the restroom (before a 3 hour film). Plus it meant people continuing to stream in for the first 20 minutes of the film. What struck me was that once again, on this weekend, not only were all concession registers not running, none of them had backups to help get the orders. This was beyond ridiculous. Finally, no less than a dozen times (it was so distracting I started counting) someone was either turning on a light, or moving around the projection room with a flashlight as light kept moving across the seatbacks in front of us. Seemed our row was the unlucky one where it hit, and several people in the row kept looking back trying to figure out what is was.
All in all a very disappointing experience for one of the most anticipated films ever, and all for issues that could have been managed. I will avoid this theater for any future prime openings when...
