I bought jeans from Amazon, they weren't the fit I was looking for. I went to return them at the store. They did not want to take my return. It is important to not that on the Amazon website it states the pants are "sold and shipped by Maurices." I should also note that the packing slip I was sent states "free in store return." There was no signage stating that they do not give cash refunds posted anywhere in the store. I paid with my debit card and that is the same as cash. I just wanted the money back on my card. After a big dispute the manager finally reluctantly put the money back on my card instead of the merchandise credit they tried to shove on me. Thanks to my soon to be mother in law I got the money back on my card. I am reluctant to even try to shop at another Maurices store ever after that experience. It left me feeling unwelcome and out of place. As someone who works in customer service myself, I know how far a simple “hello” or friendly greeting can go it makes people feel seen.
