Stayed twice, quite nice. Property is a few minutes walk to Yale university. My first stay was a weekend stay, 2 nights $450 (tax included). Somewhat expensive, but the room was really large, things inside were clean. The toilet feels slightly old and the bathtub is a bit yellow but still acceptable, overall well cleaned. I got 2 bottles of water complementary. The window doesn’t block all the noise from loud vehicles, slightly annoying but not enough to disturb my sleep. Second time was a weekday stay, $350 (tax included). I got a noticeably smaller room, still large. The toilet door is somewhat broken, it often slide against the door frame. The toilet is about half the size compared to my first stay, but I still get a bathtub which I really like and it does not look yellow. Mostly well cleaned but there is a small piece of black dirt/filth on one of the cloth. This time I didn’t get bottled water and have to buy it from the store which is annoying and expensive. Toothpaste is provided when asked. The room is in the opposite side vs the first stay and is quiet. They also accommodated my early check in and late check out request which I am really thankful for. Staff are friendly for both stays. With that said there are slight issues with the hotel. The Wi-Fi sometimes isn’t really connected to the internet, cannot load anything unless I reconnect to it. The overall speed is bad too. The store next to the lobby was criminally expensive. $6 for a 1L bottle of water.

The Courtyard Marriott New Haven is one of the more reasonably priced hotels in Downtown New Haven and located within a short walk of the Shops at Yale and Yale University. The rooms are clean, modestly appointed, with a fridge, coffee maker, safe, hair dryer, and ironing board. There is also a sitting area (larger in rooms with a King sized bed) and decent sized desk area. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a lounge/restaurant area, and a 24h fitness centre on the main floor. Complimentary coffee is available every morning, and a hot chocolate station is offered every evening. There is a mini convenience/food area with a microwave called the Market, where you can purchase snacks, frozen meals, bottled water, toothpaste and other such items you might have forgotten to pack. My main complaint is that noise travels easily across the door linking adjoining rooms, such as when our neighbour was singing loudly at 1am on a Saturday night. Parking is available on site for a fee but be warned that the ramps to enter and exit the parking garage are quite tight. Overall we enjoyed a pleasant stay at the Courtyard Marriott and would definitely stay here again when visiting New Haven.

5 stars for an odd numbered room and 2 stars for an even numbered room. Two day stay, first night was an even numbered room in the front of the building and didn’t get one second of sleep. There were constant motor cycles screaming up and down the road right in front of the hotel. Stopping at the light and revving up their engines. This happened over and over again. It was as if the window was open. We asked to switch rooms to the back of the building in which we had zero issues. I’ve stayed in many hotels in my life all over the place and this hotel really NEEDS TO SOUND PROOF THEIR hotel, especially in the front. I’ve stayed at airports, on highways, even at ocean beach San Diego at the end of the runway and I got more sleep there than this hotel. The positives? Great staff and bar area was open until 10. Great for hanging out. Walking distance to Yale University, shops, and lots of nice restaurants. Worth it if you have an odd numbered room or stayed in the back of the building.

At best a 2 star hotel but 2 stars only for proximity to Yale otherwise for cleanliness, service and safety more like a 0.5 star. We chose this hotel for proximity to downtown New Haven visiting a cousin who is doing a residency in Yale and just had a baby. We arrived at midnight July 24th, 2018. We pulled in to the side of the hotel the only place where you can unload the car but it did not even look like an enterance. No sign of a bellhop and it looked like the hotel is closed. On the bench next to the door the local prostitute was lying down who greated us. I approached the door which was locked and I rang the bell! The voice said can I help you. I told them Im checking in. I went inside the lobby it was dark there was a custodial staff at the front desk I checked in with her and asked if someone can help with our bags. She said no. I asked if there is a cart for our bags. She said there are carts at the opposite corner of the lobby from the door were you unload the car, she said I can use it but have to bring it back. I went outside where the prostitute was now standing next to my car watching me and my family unload the bags. Then we had to wait to be buzzed in again. This time the prostitute entered the hotel with us. We went up to our floor to find our room is across from the elevator. When we made our reservation on the hotel web site we had requested for a room away from the elevator and a late check-in. You have the option of selecting a room away from the elevator on their website when making the reservation. We went back to the front desk and asked the lady who checked us in that we had requested a quieter room or a room away from the elevator since we have two toddlers when we made our reservation. She said they don't have anything else available. I told her that when we made our reservation we selected such an option along with a late check-in and she said their system does not show this. Disappointed, we went back to the elevator to go to our room. Once the door opened the prostitute was in the elevator she held the door open for us and we went up to our floor. Luckily once we got out she didn't follow us. We entered the room it smelled horrible. The smell was not from the bathroom it was coming from the sleeping area but at this point it was too late to do anything after all we were informed there no other rooms available. I took the cart back down and went to park my car in the garage where the spots are so tight that you can barely open your door to get in and out of the car. Its worth mentioning we left with several new dings on our cars from other people opening their doors. And the parking was not free (we knew this). Next morning we requested a change of room away from the elevator that doesn't smell and they told us they don't have anything like that but they'll let us know but no ome ever contacted us again. The air conditioning in our room was a window unit and made a ton of noise and no matter what temperature you sat the thermostat it never stopped working. In reality there was no temperature adjustment. The room smelled musty and felt humid even when we ran the air conditioning on high while we were out. My daughter's shirt got wet the first day we wringed it and hung it to dry and it was still as wet on the third day when we left. 24 hours before our check out they changed all the air conditioning units on our floor. However it did not make a bit of a difference in the humidity level in the rooms the only option the new air conditioner added was that you could change the temperature on the wall instead of changing it on the unit. The carpets were super disgusting in our room and the hallways. The smell was mildew and mold. They probably have't changed them in several years. In summary besides the location this hotel at best gets 1 star and still costs $260 or...

Let me begin by saying I have stayed at many courtyards in the past and have been satisfied. Unfortunately this is the worst experience I have had at a Marriott thus far. Upon arrival to the hotel I was greeted by a staff member whom was rather rude and disrespectful while I was simply asking for recommendations on restaurants in the area to eat at.

I understand that the hotel is undergoing renovations at the moment, but it took 25minutes waiting in line on for the elevators. If it weren't for the large amount of bags we had I would have gladly taken the stairs.

Upon checking out our "suites" on the 4th and 8th floor I was confused as I had requested a suite, which at every other Marriott hotel I have stayed at means a seperate bedroom and lounging area. Putting that aside I thought the rooms were otherwise acceptable, that is until I saw the pullout bed. In the description of room, the size of the pullout bed was described as being "queen". The pullout bed that we found in both rooms was a twin bed at best, not even a full. Additionally there were no sheets for the pullout in either suite and we had to call down to the front desk, which took upwards of an hour to deliver.

All of this I can understand I suppose due to renovation etc. But the way that your staff members treat guests at night is unacceptable. Around 3am I went out to my car to grab an extra blanket as the heater in our room didn't work adequately (another thing your staff members said they could do nothing about). In my sleepy state I accidentally grabbed the wrong card out of my wallet so I was locked out of my room without wallet or phone, and not wanting to wake my family members I decided to go down to the lobby and simply request a new one. I explained my situation to the front desk associate and she stated that I would be unable to get a key card without proper ID or the last 4digits of my credit card used for booking. This is understandable, and not havong access to either at the moment, I gave her my full name, home address and social security number. Imagine my surprise when she said that despite giving my SSN#(THE HOLY GRAIL OF ID) she was unable to give me a key and that security would need to escort me to my room and upon letting me inside would need a copy of my ID to verify my identity (Social Security Number anyone). She also would not let me use the phone to call my room as someone inside the hotel at 3am in pajamas was obviously not a guest. Upon...

I just wanted to take a quick moment to tell you about my experience here at the Courtyard. I have been staying in my home away from home for the last 14 weeks. It started off with me taking on a new role here in the area for work. I was unsure where to stay in the area and landed at a location in Wallingford. I visited the other location about 15 miles away and what a horrible experience it was. I called this location since it was close to my office and they took me in with open arms. The rest was history.

I came here in the middle of the night in October from the other location distraught and quite frustrated not sure if I would ever step foot in a Courtyard again. Prepared to write a letter and file a grievance the staff showed empathy and compassion with regard for my experience and found a great room for me for the night. The next day I came in I spoke with Mike and Michelle and they again apologized for the experience I had at the other location. You don’t know how much that meant seeing they weren’t the cause of it. I decided that weekend when I left that I would try this location again. Let me tell you this staff has become a family to me. We talk about sports, we talk about pretty much anything and know each other on a first name basis. From maintenance to the maids to the management everyone has been amazing. Who remembers your birthday when you’re away from home and leaves you a little something when you come home? Small gestures go a long way and I want to make sure that the staff here is recognized for being a well-oiled machine and for also going above and beyond not one time but every time. I have told my coworkers and everyone I know that walks around here about my experience and also my organization. Your hotel 15 miles is the preferred location and I have been working to make the Courtyard at Yale the new...
