FALSE ADVERTISING: NO ALL YOU CAN EAT HERE
The manager said after I requested the buffet option, “let’s not do that today.” Either charge a lot more for the all you can eat option or just get rid of the all you can eat option together. I do think that they’re going to discriminate on customers who request that option, probably will not offer it to younger people or people that they know how bigger appetites.
Another time the restaurant was open and I called prior and they said that they are open for food but there was no chef so they told me to leave and come back in a few hours. And then I realize that one or two of the people there are regular chefs as well.
I really enjoy the food and it’s definitely very affordable for the New Haven area. It’s just not respectful that they’re going to deny people the all you can eat buffet option, and it’s in their advertisement, to save money. And if you’re going to mistreat customers or turn away customers to save money, it doesn’t just turn away that one customer you want to get rid of, it makes many people in the community not want to go...
Read moreVisit May '16 Quality of food is actually 4/5 , the fish was fresh, edible and for the most part not stuffed in rice.
Selection of menu is not bad, there are kitchen items and sushi items- pretty neat especially if there are folks who don't like raw fish and stick to the california rolls/ kitchen items make it a better deal.
The restaurant is huge, but partitioned off- poor use of space in my opinion if you go back to the bathroom you'd understand.
Place is clean, needs some tlc.
Service is where the review falls on, theres 1 sushi chef, 1 waitress, and 1 chef in kitchen (which i'm sure the waitress jumps in) orders can take 30 minutes and thats with no one else in the restaurant (yes the whole joint to yourself!) , issue lies with understaffing and what appears to he heavy delivery orders ; which appears to be done by a third party company, so agents are fighting with the sushi chef, while eating meal.
Was only able to order 1 round, second would've taken to...
Read moreOverall, if you are looking for great food and good price, this is the place - cheaper than Sushi on Chapel, and just better food than Miya's. Service is lacking though.
Pros -Food was fantastic, and if you go, go for the All You Can Eat. It's 22.5 dollars (incl. tax) for a great selection; all fresh, great ingredients. I'd strongly recommend the special rolls, and the steak was decent too.
Cons -Ambience is not great - tables are very spaced out and it feels eerily empty. Of course, this was during the summer. Not good for a date. Great for buddies going out for a nice night though; although given the lack of privacy I'm sure it could get distracting for other customers (we were a bit loud). -Service is not that great. There was one guy who had good service, but another who was not very courteous at all. -The restaurant was essentially empty when we went, so service was quite fast. Don't know what it'd be like...
