I celebrated my 40th birthday with Gregory (and my husband) and it will truly be a special life moment I won’t forget! Gregory is such a caring, creative and considerate chef. He greets his shrimp farmer at 4am the day of our boil to collect what he deems ideal. He cares about who he collaborates with on the farming front. He puts so much love into his cooking it is EVIDENT from the moment you walk into the historical establishment. You can SMELL the history, passion and true care that has gone into this meal. Each tasting built upon the one prior. With each, my husband and I were emphatic that we enjoyed the new one more. But he wowed me with maque choux. Absolutely took me to a memory or a PAST LIFE it was so intensely flavorful. BYOB and build a memory together. It is a truly wonderful experience to be in Gregory’s orbit. We hope to return again for the Tennessee Williams festival and maybe catch him in NYC one day!!

This was such a special night. The shrimp boil was thoughtfully put together and full of heart. Mr. Gregory creates an atmosphere that’s warm and intimate without ever feeling awkward, and by the end of the evening, it felt like everyone in the room was having a genuinely good time. The food was outstanding. The crab, oyster, and alligator appetizers were real standouts, the shrimp were cooked beautifully, and the dessert was a lovely finish. It’s BYOB, which fits the setting well (it’s located between Le CaBARet and Bar Tonique—both great spots for a pre-dinner cocktail). You can tell a lot of care goes into every detail. Mr. Gregory is a fantastic host. The live music adds so much—genuine, talented performers playing just feet away while guests eat and talk. Everything flows naturally. You’re never rushed, but you’re never waiting. I can’t recommend it enough!

Shrimp Boil Cabaret was fantastic, and the food was AMAZING!! This was such a GREAT find. Entertainment was top notch. Gregory did a taste of the south tasting menu tonight along with the Shrimp Boil, it was a real treat. You can tell that Gregory really cares about the quality of product that he serves and everything tasted outstanding!!! The Shrimp and Crab au Gratin rival some of the finest restaurants in NOLA. Gregory gave us history of the recipes, where the shrimp was sourced from. Even the King cake was from a special bakery, not a store bought. I highly suggest you take advantage of this gem. It's a little outside of the normal touristy stuff, which is what makes it special.
