My parents were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in April 2020. This is obviously a monumental celebratory time for my parents but was impacted by COVID. My parents are senior citizens and have been taken advantage of by the CEO, Tracey DeChabert. My mother has made various attempts requesting a refund, as our governor does not know when these venues can function at regular capacity. She would like to utilize the venue and was excited to support a Black operated business, but as a result of financial hardship and over $2,000 given to the Alhambra Theatre with no date in the future to guarantee its use, my parents' request for a refund have been ignored. Phone calls and text messages have been ignored.
This is a horrible way for a local business to treat not only elderly people but community members of any age or gender. How can you take from people as many of us are negatively impacted by COVID-19? I am disgusted at this person and as a business owner myself, I just cannot see how one can operate in this manner. It is disappointing to say the least. It should not have come to me writing a negative review and taking things to the next level. This still can be avoided if Tracey and/ staff are willing to contact my parents to refund the money and no...
Read moreMy experience hosting my mother’s 60th birthday celebration at the Alhambra Ballroom was fantastic from start to finish. I worked with Brianna D., who was a consummate professional—communicative, accessible, and responsive. Brianna also provided a vendor list to assist with my part planning. She embodied all the qualities you expect when working with any reputable catering hall.
The party room, bar policies, day-of-event wait staff, and the food (especially the crab cakes, salmon, Cornish hen, and mac and cheese) were all a perfect 10 out of 10.
On the day of the event, everything was already set up by their staff. All I had to do was add our personal touches—balloons, backdrops, and other decorations based on our theme. For the first time, I was able to actually host an event and enjoy it, rather than work and miss out.
Special shout out to Brianna, Katherine, the chef, Uncle (bartender), and the room setup guy (whose name I unfortunately forgot). You all played a vital role in making my mom’s 60th...
Read moreI hosted an event at The Alhambra Ballroom for a person that is dear to me on her 100th, Birthday. The venue is managed by a family that provides little to No Service. The space recently reopened after filing Chapter 11Bankruptcy due to Covid-19 and being closed for about 20 months. The large ballroom needs to be thoroughly cleaned and old musty carpet removed. The place needs to be painted and upgraded. They have no staff. If you need assistance with anything that has to do with the ballroom, help is not available. I changed the menu for this special occasion to Southern Cuisine. The new Chef Dennis Fleming prepared and served some very good food. The attitude of Tracy DeChabert, General Manager is NOT professional, to say the least. Please do your research before renting this space...
