Northern Bell — Restaurant in New York

So the first time I came here, I had a good experience the female bartender was super friendly and nice, she was telling us it was her last week there, that was unfortunate because the second time I came the bartender (plump/stocky long hair dude) was super rude, at first I thought he was just being rude to me but he was being rude to my friends as well, we were trying to open separate tabs, we all knew we had to come up to the bar to order drinks but he was just like “I’m going to put it all on the same tab and you guys figure it out at the end” when i asked what beer they had he was like “the wall is right there ” in a disrespectful & dismissive way but whatever we continued to enjoy our night, I asked him nicely to close out my tab & did so, but we wanted one more for the road & when I ordered it he was telling me that he was cutting me off ? Idk why I was aware of everything happening and we weren’t being rowdy, when I asked him why he said it was because of my signature on my bill ?? Like that’s just my signature, I didn’t want to go back and fourth with him I just left because that just didn’t make sense to me. I hope they get rid of that bartender. Because it’s a nice & cool spot but he ruined my friends and my experience. The bar back or server that was there (tall guy with short hair) was polite though maybe he should be bartending. The funny thing about my review is that the owner decided to comment on how I described the gentleman working behind the bar but didn’t decided to say anything on how Ill mannered his employees were ?...

Came here today to meet a friend I met from work and I had a good day. It was very laidback and we ate out in front. Mike was very friendly and helpful to use since it was our first time there. I decided to go with the tacos on the menu and I was able to try 3 different ones so I got (1 rib, 1 grilled and 1 fried) and my friend got 2 chicken and 1 shrimp. For drink I got the boozeberry which is something I'm familiar with so I went with that.

The tacos came and all 3 looked very good! Mike after my friend's request bought out different levels of hot sauces. I added one that wasn't over the top hot and enjoyed my taco and I have to say each one was VERY VERY tasty, cooked well and delicious! My friend also enjoyed her taco as well. I also enjoyed my drink too! Prices are reasonable for what you get too.

I went around the afternoon so there wasn't a lot of people you could have a conversation and not feel rushed. I told Mike (who introduced himself to me) I will be back with my other friend soon. I truly enjoyed my lunch...

Well, they have kalettes, which I wanted to try for a while. Unfortunately the burnt ends bbq was underwhelming, a dry, small portion served on a heap of gravy-soggy fries. The bf's Wagyu burger was tasty, with an odd mac and cheese patty on top of it. The blandness of the mac and cheese was a dull counterpoint to the flavorful burger and high quality brioche bun.

They have a wine selection locked into a grated cage on the wall, giving off a vaguely prison vibe in the super dark restaurant. So dark that I literally couldn't tell the difference between my burnt ends and my fries until I got a fork into them.

One major highlight was the service. Our server was a bearded gentleman of the lumberyard type, with impeccable, point on service. He didn't act harried though he seemed to be the only one on the floor, and he inquired about potential additional sides for us. The beverage refills appeared seamlessly, and the table was cleared of dishes without interruption.
