Club Fitness New York — Attraction in New York

Used to be one of my best gym's in NYC for years!!!! I was a personal trainer at many gyms in few different countries, including Synergy NYC, which is few blocks away from club fitness.

I left Synergy to come here and workout with a friend of mine and I was an active member for 4-5 years! Including: My wife and my best man. I haven't been to the gym for a year due to an injury. However, I let my wife to go there with my best man cuz a lot of times when she was alone, "obviously, she was getting bothered by other men" so, she wasn't feeling comfortable working out by herself.

The UNPROFESSIONAL stuff, management and owner! Approach my wife, few time with a very rude and unprofessional attitude, to ask her to stop working out with her best-man cuz they do have a personal trainers and if she wants to work out with someone, that someone should be a club fitness personal trainer. Understandable, as I said, I was a personal trainer myself and I know how it works.

The guy (my best man, family friend and member) was there with her just for company and to work out with her, not to train her!!!

Therefore, I did call and I spoke with one of the "managers", and he said "yes sir, we have your wife on video working with this guy!" Listen to how this sounds guys! "We have your wife on video!" Wow

Furthermore, I asked the guy the following question, "sir, at the moment, I'm not working out due to an injury, but soon I will return and start working out with my wife again, that would be a problem?" He said no! She's your wife.... and I said exactly! Thats her best man and I sent him to work out with her so she can feel safe and comfortable! The guy said it's not the same, we doing it for safety reasons! WHAT???😂🤣 I told him, "if you want, I'm willing to forward you my wedding day pics so you can see him, if you think I'm lying." He said I will have someone else contacting you cuz he didn't know what to say, and obviously nobody contacted me. They're too good to do that.

People there are too arrogant! just like the owner!

Long story short guys, this gym lost me, my wife and my best man, one shot. Good luck to them, I wish them the best, God sees, and knows...

This gym is in terrible condition when it comes to cleanliness; observing the state of the bathrooms and amenities is extremely disgusting.

SAUNA CLEANLINESS NEVER!! They never properly clean the sauna; there's a thick layer of dirt on the floor, and it appears moldy everywhere. The person in charge of cleaning NEVER CLEANS THE SAUNA PROPERLY; they should use a brush or a hose and clean that dirt at least once a week!!! IT'S SUPER DISGUSTING AND NOT HYGIENIC AT ALL. SHOWERS Disgustingly dirty, I would like to say that they only wash them once a week, but the trash under the mats has been there for months. I don't know who came up with the brilliant idea of using mats in the shower; OBVIOUSLY, that worsened the hygiene conditions since THEY NEVER CLEAN THEM. The evidence in the photographs proves it.

JACUZZI This is also a SCAM, THERE IS NO JACUZZI, it doesn't work, and IT WILL NEVER WORK. But the problem is not only that there is no jacuzzi; the problem is that THEY DO NOT CLEAN THAT AREA, and it looks disgustingly dirty and unpleasant.

LOCKER ROOM Like the other amenities, the locker room is disgustingly dirty; the air ducts are filled with dirt. There's a lot of garbage inside the lockers. And the garbage on the floor is not picked up; it can stay there for hours, and NOBODY COMES TO PICK IT UP.

BATHROOMS Disgustingly dirty. The showers drip. The shower handles don't work. The water pressure is very low.

NO TOWELS There's no towel service, for the price they charge, not having something like that is ridiculous.

BAGS Sometimes they don't even provide bags, and it's ridiculous.

DISORGANIZATION Nobody puts the dumbbells or weights in the right place. People spend their time recording themselves, and it's really uncomfortable to do a routine and be recorded by people of dubious reputation. The machines smell quite bad.

SERVICE The service from the employees is terrible; the women at the reception spend their time talking among themselves: a simple good morning, good afternoon, or welcome wouldn't hurt, I mean, out of politeness and courtesy. The people who work in the offices are also very unpleasant, both in attitude and...

Initially, when I joined this gym (after going to XSport in Roosevelt Field Mall, Long Island) I was happy and thought this gym could compare to it. But, being a member of Club Fitness for 7 months now, I really am unhappy with their management. They APPEAR to be an upscale gym but at the end of the day it is a mom and pop gym with poor management. My credit card got stolen, and when I got a new one, club fitness charged me $60+ in late fees, all other companies with which I have set up automatic payments had the decency to email/call or send me a letter in the mail stating to fix the issue, rather than just charging me late fees. This is 2012, this gym needs to fix its act. When I called and went in to fix my issue (at 10:30am) no body from management was in - this is not how business is run. They have a spa and salon as well. When I called to make an appointment and they "transferred" me it went to a line that just rang and rang and rang. When I called back - they told me to call someone on their cell phone. And another time, the person I spoke to at the front desk went upstairs personally to hand them the phone. This place has great equipment, but as a member there... you'll see the staff could care less about anything that's going on and the vibe at the gym is terrible. Other gyms have great service and energy. The trainers and staff are motivating and care about the guests - NOT THIS GYM. Again, to pay 60-70-80$ a month at a nice gym, along with it should also come great customer service.
