Eugene O’Neill Theatre — Attraction in New York

I just saw The Book of Mormon today, and this theater really made the experience run smoothly. I lined up outside before the doors opened and there were no issues. Getting in the doors went very smoothly, they have metal detectors and a person checking bags. Don’t tell anyone this, but I had a full reusable water bottle and a few snacks for intermission (trying to save money where I can). The bag check was very cursory and he literally just opened it and looked inside, so within reason you can get away with a couple harmless items. For my actual seat, i was about 4 rows from the back. I didn’t see this as a hindrance and even though i’m 5’1 I had no issue seeing the stage. One thing I will note though, is that the first row in the back section has a railing in front of it. Some shorter people were having issues seeing over the railing, so you may want to sit one row back (row F) The ushers showing you to your seat are super helpful and knowledgeable. The bathrooms were clean and the line went very quickly. The only negative is that it’s not an accessible bathroom but they offer an off-site bathroom to those who need it to be accessible. I didn’t see this restroom so I can’t speak for it. The sound reached the back with no issues, the sound was clear and sounded good. The lighting was amazing and the chairs were comfortable. The Eugene O'Neil Theater, standing proudly in the heart of New York City, recently played host to a rather unique spectacle – "The Book of Mormon." Far from the usual Broadway fare, this production served up a deliciously irreverent feast of humor, without a single dish in sight.From the moment the curtains rose, it was clear that attendees were in for a treat of a different kind. The 1-star rating was for the theatre itself, rather than the brilliant production. The seating layout is tiered but isn't raised high enough between each row, the seating is tight but manageable, lastly the seats themselves are so worn out that you immediately sink into it. What this means is that you run the possibility of watching the back of someone's head for two hours. I struggled to see the centre of the stage where most of the action and dialogue takes place.

Broadway tickets are not cheap, you pay a substantial amount and for that, you're expected to at least see a decent proportion of the performance, wherever you're seated. Investment into the seating is long overdue, given the performance is constantly sold out, you expect the level of services are maintained to enhance the viewing experience. Regarding the Book of Mormon, it was great! All credit due to everyone involved with the Broadway production. I completely recommend watching this performance. I would have enjoyed it more had I been able see the performance clearly, but you work with...
