Gagosian — Attraction in New York

never got in....very condescending attitude to have on website and telephone that they are open when they are not. tried to go Dec. 29th and was closed all day. I was shocked at their attitude of not caring about people who are not 'in the loop' on the chelsea art scene schedule. A vacation week? Yes... but could go either way... open when people are on vacation... or closed and never bother to tell anyone just because the real money people are out of town... they don't care about...

My first visit was for “social works” curated by Antwaun Sargent. it was so lovely I came back a second time before it closed. Staff is incredibly kind and space is very clean and beautiful. This exhibit featured many incredible Black fine artists such as Lauren Halsey, Carrie Mae Weems, Rick Lowe, Christie Neptune and many more. I left here feeling so inspired and ready to create. Came back a second time with additional people. There are also lots of galleries on this block...

Made a reservation at the gallery yesterday for my birthday, and was followed by a security guard after a woman walked into the room in which I was viewing paintings and quickly walked out because my presence made her uncomfortable and he could feel it. Every time I visit I have a problem with the self-entitled staff and security, and find myself wishing to God that I could just be totally alone...
