This was the first time going with my significant other. Let’s start with the services . There could have been more waiters. As far as serving water, it came lukewarm in a jug. Two glasses with no ice. It should have came with ice. Now let’s start with the food, The sliders were very well seasoned. However, the meat Could have been a little thicker and also cooked medium well . There was more bun than meat. Let’s start with the french fries. They were undercooked. The majority of the french fries were not done. I didn’t want to send the food back because I do not want to risk anyone playing with my food. The five dollar punch drink was amazing ! And last, but not least everyone loves a good Buffalo wing. When I asked the waiter, did they serve wings, He replied no because it was more of a Cajunspot. In New Orleans, what do you think they are known for? PoBoys, Dirty rice, Gumbo, And last, but not least Cajun fried chicken ! When you go to a bar, the first thing you expect is having a wing with fries and a drink. I feel like they need to add wings to the menu. Overall, the atmosphere was nice. And the music they were playing was current and up-to-date. If you get some wings in there, you will be the...

I appreciate that they had a pretty wide cocktail drink menu. And a variety of virgin cocktails aka "free-spirited" drinks.
SERVICE: Really great. Always checking in and refilling your water from the pitcher on the table when you can fill it yourself.
ATMOSPHERE: Mondays for the live music is the best. I'm surprised it wasn't busier, I guess it's still a well kept secret. I like that even though there's live music, you can still have a conversation while you enjoy your food and drinks. And the music was a calm folksy guitar and vocalist trio, and it matched the overall vibe of the place. I like the feel of the place in general too, with the rustic and soft lighting. They have random boardgames available too to play, so definitely wouldn't mind bookmarking this in my mind for a future hangout spot. Also looking at the maps now, I'm realizing how close it is to Vessel, which would be a nice place to stop by next time. Or if you want to walk closer to the pier for a...
Read moreAs a longtime fan of Danny Meyer's restaurants, Porchlight has been a consistent favorite of mine for years. I've gone back and forth between giving it four or five stars, but the overall experience always brings me back to five.
Being a Texas transplant in NYC, the Southern-inspired theme really warms my heart and provides a welcome touch of home. The real highlight, however, is the cocktail menu. It's practically a book, filled with creative and delicious options that can satisfy any preference. It's a fantastic spot to bring friends, especially since the menu is remarkably gluten-friendly, which one of my close friends greatly appreciates.
The only reason for my hesitation is the service during peak hours. If you visit right after work or on a weekend night, the bar can get backed up, and it becomes quite difficult to get a server's attention. The service is otherwise fantastic, but it's something to keep in mind if you're hoping to stop in for a quick pre-dinner drink—it might take longer than you anticipate.
That one caveat aside, this place is a gem. For its wonderful atmosphere, stellar drinks, and thoughtful menu, it absolutely earns...
