i find it funny that a lot of the people giving the worst google reviews about LAGCC are the same people who cant spell. "costumer services"..you mean CUSTOMER services? Jesus Christ.
Anyway..i am a recent graduate of Laguardia as of June /2015..I have seen Laguardia grow (when i was a freshman there was only three buildings). The one complaint will give Laguardia that is deserved is the lack of professors who speak english FLUENTLY. I am not a fan of living in an english speaking country and being forced to learn a different language just to learn math or c++. We need a heavy influx of professors who speak the native language as to make it easier for native students to learn. The information from one department to the other also needs to be consistant.
Those are all the negatives i can think of. This school looks to improve it's facilities everyday and have resources that are not taken advantage of enough by students. The teachers and counselors actually do care, but they will NOT be disrespected. The students at LaGuardia are also there to learn. Making friends is cool but a lot of these people are young AND focused, which is refreshing to see. They have a daycare program for students who have children and their nursing program is one of the best in the country. Transportation to the college is a breeze, with the 7 and E trains only two or three blocks away in any direction.
The engineering and computer science curriculum needs an influx of younger talent (which judging from last semester, it looks like they are fixing that) and faster wifi services.
But i loved the school and the patience they show...
Read moreA good school where you get out what you put in. Many trains stop within walking distance and buses as well. Just like any college, depending on your major, you will find good and bad professors. So always make use of the rate my professor website. I had a very pleasant experience. The administration was more competent than other schools I went to and my issues were always solved within a reasonable amount of time. The facilities I had to use for my major were in even better condition compared to some four year schools. The wifi coverage was good. Plenty of cafeterias with the best one being in the E building. Plenty of food trucks with different types of foods. Lots of seating areas with electrical ports. The class scheduling was workable with enough sections to fit almost everyone. Can't speak for any other major but it felt like that overall. They are always hiring new adjuncts so it's not the same professor teaching that one section you need all the time that everyone says is horrible. Always stay on top of your things if you want to have them resolved quickly. That's the part you play in your college years. The hand holding stops after High School. All I can say is, relax a little and have some fun. At the end of the day grades won't show the strength of your character after all is...
Read moreRAD techs accreditation matters! LAGCC radiology program doesn’t have JRCERT accreditation; which ensures you’ll be eligible for licensure in each state.I peeped this after I transferred in and did two sessions. HostosCC & BronxCC do have it.City tech has it too and offers an A.A.S. as well.I struggle with math; I tried to do the math. It was hard.I hated taking a class where I didn’t see the application to degree work. HostosCC math for RadTechs is-Mathematics for Allied Health.I read the syllabus and it’s what it should be for this program. With me struggling, the one time that I scheduled a math tutoring, I was stood up.No one showed up, didn’t even get a cancellation email.I travelled for nothing and didn’t get the help I needed. Classmate theorized it was because it was a summer session; the computer just automatically accept an appointment and when there'd be no service. Administrative faculties are professional, and organized tho. Never had a problem with them losing any of my documentations unlike BMCC, or a private school I went to. Professors were good enough. They know their stuff, yet their teaching was sort of mid. If it wasn’t for specific accreditation issue to this program, I would add a star to my review.Either way now...
