Forget any reviews you read of this place. It is not something that you can generalize. It is a rare combination of artistic genius with samples of the future of immersive technologies. Was it worth the price of admission – and something that people complained was too high? The ticket price is far less than a good show on Broadway but something that if you open your eyes and brain (and are more than the typical museum or art gallery visitor) will blow you away. The artists and technicians behind its many exhibits deserve our thanks for doing something out of the ordinary. I have been in this tech industry for more than four decades doing R&D in this field and even I was amazed.
So please take your time and enjoy the various rooms as you move through their linear design. And please do not move through them quickly or you will miss their sometimes-subtle creation and connections.
In the end the place makes you see and think about space beyond the screen of your phone or some fragile postings on social media to enjoy what some extraordinary and talented people can create. I hope that the exploding members of the google maps community take about 90 minutes of their time in NYC to experience these exhibits. It is a wow experience on several levels. It is the best thing I have seen in NYC in a decade.
Finally, my congratulations to the team and investors behind the effort and I am hoping you get the crowds you deserve. And to the artists -- brilliant work, with some serious views of art and science on what I see as the future of cinema. Yes, most people will have to stretch to get it but I...
Read moreA little underwhelming. We went for the sensory exhibit they have going on and the best part was the mini-light exhibit, which was fantastic. The other stuff I feel was not really worth the price of admission.
Mostly some light interactive exhibits that were cool, but I would have preferred to see them if the price was lower.
Some of the claims they can make, like having one of the largest 4d sound rooms is cool, but the exhibits need to do more with infrastructure they have. I would love to revisit this place if they open up and have more stuff like the light exhibit.
It is a nice spot to kill a few...
Read moreOf the 15 rooms, I only found 4 to be intriguing. The space is very well curated but a number of the exhibits are underwhelming. For example, the robotic arm that creates a minimal pattern in sand left me thinking “a lot of engineering for uninteresting results”. The fake flower room was terrible. I don’t know what it is striving to relate. Not impressive. Now, the rooms that made use of light and mirrors in different configurations were mesmerizing and captivating. I loved these. In the final analysis, I guess it was worth the $53 to see this once. But once is enough. Not a place you’d revisit I...
