I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the exceptional care provided at Glen Oaks Nursing Home, where my mother, Ruby, after having a Stroke, had a Double bypass heart surgery & then Later a major Hernia repair. We choose this Locaion for her rehabilitation from November 15, 2024, to May 20, 2025. From the moment we arrived, Nurse Loveleen did a fantastic job settling my mom in and she truly made me feel that my mom was going to be in good hands.
From Day 1 It was evident to me, that this facility prioritizes the well-being and comfort of its residents. President Abe Greenbaum has done an outstanding job in fostering a warm and welcoming environment. He would almost Daily make his rounds & check up on my Mom regularly His commitment to quality care is reflected throughout the entire staff. Administrator Emil Fuzaylov is incredibly attentive, ensuring that every detail is managed with care and compassion. Any issues I brought to him were rectified & resolved immediately. Under the guidance of Director of Nursing Estelle Vanwert, the nursing staff provided top-notch medical care while maintaining a personal touch that made my mom feel valued and loved. She went as far to sharing her personal cell with my Moms Sister Meena & if we needed anything & at anytime she was there to assist lovingly.
A special mention goes to Director of Recreation Manpreet Kaur, who organized engaging activities that greatly contributed to my mother's recovery. The physical therapy team, including Harry Edelson and Amira Salim, worked tirelessly to help my mom regain her strength and mobility, tailoring their approach to her individual needs.
I also want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the daily aides who worked closely with my mom, especially Tanya and Lisa. Their kindness and dedication made a significant difference in her recovery journey. They treated her not just as a patient, but as part of their extended family, providing support and encouragement at every step.
Overall, Glen Oaks Nursing Home is a remarkable facility that combines professionalism with heartfelt care. I am incredibly grateful for the support my mother received during her stay, and I wholeheartedly recommend Glen Oaks to anyone seeking a nurturing environment for their loved ones. Thank you, Glen Oaks, for creating such a positive experience for...
Read moreNew Glen Oaks Nursing Home provided my dad care and compassion throughout his stay. And while unfortunately my dad did pass away due to conditions related to dementia; from my observation during my daily visits, the staff including management , nurses, aids, PT, OT, along with the visiting doctor, exhibited professionalism, experience, empathy, patience and kindness throughout his time there towards both my father and our family. Like many other reviewers have shared, residents benefit from the support of their loved ones taking time to visit with them and being proactive in advocating for their care but - as others have stated - even without that external guardrail provided by a resident's loved ones - New Glen Oaks Nursing Home staff independently provides a caring and thoughtful personal approach to their residents with experienced and knowledgeable staff who genuinely care. The staff were responsive and communicative throughout and worked with us to provide a caring and compassionate environment for my dad. I always felt welcome as I popped in and out throughout any given day and found my father looking clean and well. Any concerns that I voiced or questions that I raised were responded to promptly and when appropriate, by the a member that my question/concern was in their purview. This was a difficult time for us as a family, with highs and lows, hopes and despair; but thankfully, my father appeared content and comfortable throughout his stay. I'll also mention that the facility is conveniently located in a nice area with access to adequate street parking and walking distance to/from multiple bus stops. There are also numerous food options in case you would like to have a snack or provide your loved one with some personal food items from fast food (Dunkin, McDonalds,, etc.) to grocery store items (Lidl) or clothing (Burlington). We visited several rehab/nursing care facilities and my dad was previously at another facility, and I highly recommend New Glen Oaks Nursing Home over any others if given the choice. I thank the team at New Glen Oaks Nursing Home for the care they provided to my...
Read moreMy mom was at New Glen Oaks Nursing Home for just about 2 months and I really don't have anything bad to say about the place. They helped me with a lot of things from how to navigate the Insurance / who should be paying what, what is covered and what is probably not. And letting me stay late if I need to, doing things like explaing how a DNR (do not resuscitate) which is what my mom wanted, but I didn't. How that would actually play out.. -It's just a lot to deal with, but they were super helpful. Doctor was there all the time, I asked him a lot of questions and he was super helpful. They also have wound care which was super helpful as well because my mom needed that as well.
Of course if your loved one dies there nothing will be good. So I get it, these places have a tough job. People come in sick or hurt and sometimes stuck in the bed like my mom was. So it's tough, your asking for top notch hospital care on a nuring home budget. So not realistic, but they do a hell of a job there.
The thing I can tell you about this place or anyplace like this, it's all going to come down to the People working there. Read the reviews carefully. In the last place my mom was in before this place (Holliswood center) they almost gave my mom the wrong meds and thank god I was there, because they could have really messed her up. I went there everyday to make sure things were going ok, So finding this place was a blessing. I still went everyday but I felt like if I missed a day, they would take good care of her.
Because the people working there are great, and that's really what puts it over other places you might go to, they are really nice and friendly and caring, and seem to know what they are doing which is more important then you would think it would be. So if you end up there it's a good place, they really are trying to do a really good job there, and that's what makes a big difference, and what makes it a...
