Edit/update: we went back for a cocktail and dessert tonight and the manager wanted to make up for our experience. We added a star to highlight they’re hearing the feedback so hopefully our earlier experience is just a one off.
Original review: First up: the chocolate soufflé is superb. I recommend coming here for that dish specifically. There is a bartender, Becky I think is her name, who is great too. I recommend cocktails by her! These are the stars as they are top.
Unfortunately though our experience is that this steakhouse doesn't know how to do steak. After coming for post-dinner drinks and for a days, we decided to accept the HR hotel invite (as guests) to do the pin strip happy hour: second cocktail free and 1/2 price appetiser. We asked to do this but the waiter told us no because they did not seat us at the bar. No effort made to allow us to take up the hotel invite.
Then our bone marrow appetiser was messed up. The waiter decided to hold the marrow toast the was part of the dish, because my husband said he doesn't want dairy. The waiter didnt discuss his decision to hold the toast or options with us when we ordered (I can eat dairy and we planned to eat it). When the dish came out partial, we asked where the toast was - the marrow needs to spread on something. He then ordered toast but it was so late we had eaten the marrow before it goes cold. Nothing was done to make up for this disappointment. The marrow tasted good though.
Then the $105 porterhouse steak came out: we ordered medium rare but it was very rare. The waiter offered to cook it further and said they have a machine that can still cook it despite them having already sliced it. When the steak was returned, half of the steak was chewy/overdone, but the other half was medium rare as ordered; so half of our steak was great.
There was a lot of disappointment and back and forth to get simply what we ordered and no offering to make up for bad experience. A $300 meal that we recommend you...

So this January my husband and my brother and his wife all stayed at the Hard Rock NYC. One night we decided to try the steakhouse that was on the ground floor right by the entrance. Now I am not a baseball fan but my husband is and he was excited to visit a “Yankee themed” steakhouse. I was expecting more of a sports bar but to my surprise it was anything but that. Although there was pictures of the players on the walls, and various other memorabilia, the decor was tasteful and elegant. We had an early reservation so the place was not busy at all so the manager, Johnathan I think it was, moved us from one of the round booths to a larger table that was spacious for our party. When my husband and I go out to dinner back home I usually am the one that orders for the table. When I opened the menu I saw the most diverse and intriguing menu options that I have ever seen. Although I’ve had most of the items on the menu before I can honestly say that I’ve never had them prepared in the manner that they were. The octopus was “tandoori spiced” and included papadam, something I’ve only seen in Indian restaurants and the presentation was exemplary. The lamb chops were “Turkish spiced” and were the best that I’ve ever tasted. The bone marrow was roasted to perfection and extremely flavorful… and that was just the appetizers! We chose to order the A5 Japanese Wagyu and it was life changing! In fact, the entire experience at NYY Steak was the highlight of our trip and I highly recommend putting it into anyone’s itinerary when visiting New York City. We will...
Read moreI literally just left this steakhouse for a birthday dinner. This is going to be a lengthy review because there were a lot of mistakes and neglect during my experience. Let’s start off with the pros: The ambiance is nice. All the staff were very pleasant and seemed happy to service my table. Lastly, the manager did that 25% off the bill which I’ll tell you about in a few. The cons outweighed the pros. When I first came in, I sat by the bar and my guests were entertaining the establishment. The bartender’s manager told the bartender to offer me water to start because I sat there for a few minutes and no one asked me what I’d like to drink. Secondly,I had a party of 4, we all ordered skirt steak, we emphasized we would like it to be “well done”. Well the steak comes out medium rare and super salty. We sent the steaks back to the kitchen and they finally made it well done but this time with even more salt. We had to drink so much water, the salt overpowered the flavor of the steak. The mash potatoes and asparagus were good but again overloaded with salt. The table bread was delicious but again they slapped so much butter on the top, it made it so salty. Finally the birthday desert comes and it’s like 17 different chocolates on this little cake and super sweet. Again the food and desert wasn’t bad at all. The presentation was wonderful as well. But the chef is salt and sugar happy and my guests felt the same. If he can learn to balance that and allow the natural flavors of the food come to life, this steakhouse review would of have been...
