I visited Legos with my partner for brunch on November 30, scheduled for 12:45 PM, after seeing a brunch deal on an app called pulse. We used a pulse voucher to cover the cost, and after enjoying our meal, we received the bill about 2-3 hours later. The bill included a 20% gratuity plus tax, which was expected, as it had been stated upfront when we purchased the brunch voucher. The total for the gratuity and tax came to about $9, which seemed reasonable.
However, after we left, my partner noticed an extra $20 charge on his bank account the next day. Upon reviewing the situation, we realized that the waitress—an Hispanic woman with curly hair—had added an additional $20 tip to our bill without our authorization. This is outright theft and highly Illegal to forge and write in a tip amount.
I contacted the restaurant to report the issue, and after some time, I spoke with a manager named Keyshana. She told me to email accounting with the card number used, but the response from management was disappointing. They did not seem to take the matter seriously, and the fact that they did not immediately hold the waitress accountable is concerning. Allowing a staff member to steal from customers reflects badly on management and speaks to a lack of responsibility and oversight.
In hindsight, we should have taken a photo of the receipt, which would have helped us identify any unauthorized charges at the time of payment. It is highly disrespectful and unethical for a staff member to add a tip without the customer’s knowledge, especially when a 20% gratuity is already included in the bill. It felt like an unnecessary act of greed.
I will not be returning to Legos. While the food was mediocre at best, the restaurant seems busy enough that a waitress should not feel the need to steal. This experience has made me question the integrity of the restaurant and its staff. I also believe this behavior could easily escalate if it continues unchecked, and I wouldn't trust them with any card payments moving forward. If they've done it once, they'll likely do it again. I no longer feel comfortable spending my money at an establishment that allows its staff to steal from customers. This behavior makes the business appear untrustworthy, unprofessional, and irresponsible.
It’s clear to me that this may not have been an isolated incident, and I intend to report this situation to the Better Business Bureau and local authorities to ensure others are aware of what’s happening. The lack of proactive management oversight and accountability is truly disappointing and very irresponsible of them, and highly unprofessional. This is very concerning.
I hope that Legos takes this seriously and addresses this issue, as it reflects poorly on both the staff and the management. I highly recommend that people carefully watch their bills and take pictures when dining at this establishment. Stealing/theft in the hospitality industry is at an all-time high, and it’s troubling to see that gratuity is automatically added while waitstaff are also adding their own tips on top, especially underserved and below mediocre service. This is both sneaky and unethical behavior. It’s concerning that management allows this to happen and appears to lack proper oversight in hiring and monitoring...

I really wanted to like this place as were are new to NY area and looking for a nice place with good food and music. We are extremely disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. The food was good and music was on point, but that’s the only positive thing I can say. The service was absolutely horrible. The server assigned to our section clearly didn’t want to serve us and passed us off to someone else who was rude, unprofessional, and unfriendly which, honestly, might have been better considering how poorly she was treating other tables. From the moment we sat down, we were made to feel like a burden. We were a group of 3 but were given a table meant for two, even after explaining that we planned to order multiple dishes to share. We wanted to try different dishes as this was our first time there, so we ordered 2 appetizers, 4 mains, and a side, asking for them to be spaced out and brought out gradually. Instead, everything arrived at once after waiting for 25 minutes, with plates stacked on top of each other. Despite the overcrowding, no one offered to move us to a larger table or give us a side table. The ambiance was decent, but they serve hookah inside, and the smoke/smell fills the air, definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. The worst part came after the meal. We ordered one dessert, and while we were eating it, a man, possibly a manager, wearing dreadlocks and carrying three walkie-talkies came over and rudely told us we had overstayed. He claimed they had already given us a 30-minute grace period, which was simply not true , as our 2.5-hour dining time hadn’t even passed. Mind you, the food came 25 minutes late. As we were still eating, staff began clearing our dessert plates which still had dessert on it and glasses, including a full double drink that had just been served and hadn’t even been touched. I had to physically snatch it back from his hand. Their excuse? They needed the table for customers waiting in line. But we were seated near the entrance and could clearly see there were 4 empty tables ready for customers, and the only people by the door "in line" were the ones who were taking pictures as they left. To top it all off, the bill included food we never ordered. After we pointed it out, they brought a corrected version but then disappeared. We waited another 10 minutes to pay. When we asked the same rude server/manager with dreadlocks for the card machine, he refused and told us to get up and go to the bar, even though we saw other tables paying from their seats. The entire experience was disrespectful and unprofessional. Good food and decent ambiance mean nothing when the staff make you feel unwelcome Unfortunately, as much as i wantedbus to love this place, we will not return — and we wouldn’t recommend this place...
Read moreLast visited July 20, 2023. Hanging out in New York City on business and I've already been to Lagos several times. It's time to give them the official review that they deserve, so here it is!
Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is LITERALLY right near Times Square, one of the busiest places in the entire city, but shockingly, it's not usually packed in here, but it should be. You just gotta wait until the place turns into a nightclub late in the evenings. Once inside it's BEAUTIFUL. The ceilings are high, the bar is long and stretches down the right side. The left side is all tables sitting in front of one long booth. The bathroom is at the very back and there's even an upstairs! Up there it's practically a repeat of the same thing, but again, the decor flows very nicely. Of course it was a bit loud in there due to the music, then people talking over the music, but that's the kind of energy this place wants you to have! Especially at brunch and stuff!
Service: The only reason this place loses a star is because some servers have attitudes. It's happened more than once when we've come from brunch or sat at tables. When we're at the bar, we don't have these issues. I'm sorry that I've forgotten our bartenders' names, but I can see their faces. Oh well. Lol. Sit at the bar.
Food: Every time I come here, I come for the wings... period. Well, the wings and the fish tacos on happy hour. They are just tremendously good. They also have many flavors of wings you can sample. They're big, juicy, crispy (the dry-rubs at least) and are just GOOD! Like, really good! Lol. I even get them during brunch when they have bottomless mimosas! However...
Value: It's New York City so the stuff ain't cheap, bbbuuuttt... it's extremely reasonable. You can get all 6 flavors of wings they offer for $90.00... however, I'm just unsure of how many wings you actually get. Doing some math and making some assumptions while looking at the prices on the menu, I'm gonna guess that you would get 15 of each, bringing your total to 60 wings at $1.50/ea. At a 24-piece you're paying $48.00 so that's $2.00/ea. I hope my math/assumptions make sense. Lol. Anyway, bottomless mimosas will cost you $35.00 for 90 minutes and they are done RIGHT. Transparent with not a lot of juice. You leave feeling GREAT. I know I've had some other brunch entrees, but I just can't recall what they were, nor do I have pictures so even discuss them. Point is... come here and explore yourself.
In conclusion, I love this place and I will continue to revisit Lagos whenever I'm...
