Firstly fantastic location! We have stayed at NYC before, and we chose this hotel for the location and the fact that there was Breakfast included and NO resort fee! Resort fees are a common scam in the USA, recently I got stung at a Hilton property in Boston City Centre and got ripped off for 'resort' fees with NOTHING to show for it - so I was keen to avoid the same thing once again. The room was perfectly adequate for our needs for a 3 night stay. There was a combi-oven/microwave type machine but we never used it once. The bathroom was also fine and walk in shower had perfect temperature and water pressure. We did run out of toilet paper and in our 3 night stay the room was only serviced once, it is embarrassing to have to call to ask for more loo roll, so that was a problem. However the biggest complaint was a VERY VERY NOISY air conditioning/vent/fan system in the room, just about 5 ft from the bed where we slept. It really was a major issue stopping us from getting a good nights sleep. I have made a film of the vent on my iPhone and added it to this review, in the hope that it demonstrates just HOW loud it actually is! I have travelled to dozens of countries and hundreds of hotels in my time, and I can assure that this is not normal. I did complain/question this fan twice, and was told there is nothing the hotel could do to disable it as it was 'local law' that fresh air be piped in.... I am sorry but what a load of nonsense. This is just not normal. I paid almost £1k for 4 nights at this hotel and to be able to have a silent night sleep is surely the most basic expectation of any hotel, regardless of price. I must stress that I turned the AC system OFF and the noise was purely from the ventilation system which guests have NO control over. I was offered complimentary ear plugs by main reception- demonstrating that others have complained. It is a problem for this property and is really really an issue for us. Another complaint is the lack of acceptance of cash. It seems the lobby bar is basically non-existent. It was used as a suitcase storage area most days. But the reception which sold incidentals and beverages, and the roof terrace bar REFUSED to accept cash. I believe this is against US New York State Law (80-240) which requires all businesses, particularly ones offering food/beverage service or sales, to accept cash as to not discriminate against anyone. Now considering that my UK Barclays Bank account would charge me excessive fees for foreign transactions I came to NYC as usual well equipped with plenty of USD in cash. Although everywhere else in the city (the underground, buses, restaurants, bars, shops & tourist attractions) this was not a problem, sadly this Hilton property refused my payment method. I believe this was unlawful and a separate complaint has been made to the city council which I hope they will take up with Hilton. The TV/entertainment system in the room was good and functioned well. The TV screen is a great size and hooks up with Disney+/Netflix etc. The breakfast was fine if arriving early but very busy at peak times. Overall I would stay again if the fan problem was sorted, but the nightly rate of £250 when taking into account the very loud ventilation fan made this a disappointing value for money stay. I really do not know why these ventilation fans are so so loud and I hope the video does justice to just how loud it was and how it really disrupts one's sleep. When paying £250 per night for a hotel stay you should not have to rely on earplugs to be able to get a good peaceful nights sleep. I need to stress that there was zero sound from external factors, i.e. the neighbouring rooms or corridor, despite being near the lifts (we were in room 313). And the blackout blind worked a treat for light pollution issues. But this fan noise was simply unbelievable and unacceptable. Such a shame.

Awful. Positives: location and room was clean when we arrived. And that’s it. Being in my forties I’ve been fortunate enough to stay in many hotels. This is by far the worst ever. Negatives: everything else. The hotel has facilities that are way, way too small and inefficient for the amount of rooms and guests. And the customer service from staff was poor. - We tried to ring the hotel multiple times before arrival to confirm booking and ask some questions but they didn’t answer their phones once, and no option to leave a message (just said the mailbox is full) - We arrived at the hotel on the 26th December to a lobby packed full of queuing and waiting people, literally nowhere to move. It resembled an airport where all the planes had been cancelled. - After queuing for an age we were told that despite it being check in time that our room wasn’t ready. We had to wait a further 30 mins in the lobby with 2 small kids and no spare seating. After check in we had to wait more than 10 mins for a lift. A completely chaotic lift system which takes forever and nowhere near enough lifts for the size of hotel/guests. - we made it to our room to find the smallest space imaginable for 2 adults and 2 kids. One of the pieces of furniture was broken with screws on the floor. There was a tucked away dining table that had no space to be pulled out. A safe at the bottom of the wardrobe which could hardly be accessed as it was at the end of the bed with no floor space. The room is only cleaned every other day. - hilariously, the kitchenette in the room was a sink, fridge, dishwasher and microwave. The drawers were full of utensils specifically for a cooktop and oven. But guess what? No cooktop or oven anywhere to be seen. - The air conditioning is the loudest ever, like a plane taking off. And there is no option to turn it off all night so we hardly slept. - We tried to ring room service and reception about these issues, but for the duration of our stay the phones didn’t work to any number. - in the morning we were greeted by a huge pile of rubbish in the world’s narrowest corridor outside our room. We gave up waiting for a lift so walked down the stairs to breakfast. - breakfast doesn’t work even a little bit. No spare seats so we had to wait again, and the serving area is way too tiny for a hotel with 30+ floors. We found a place to sit and then had to queue for 30 mins for waffles (one waffle machine for hundreds and hundreds of guests, go figure). The rest of the breakfast food options were ok, but they had ran out of forks. When my wife asked for a fork to eat sausages, the staff said “couldn’t you just use a spoon?”. - after breakfast the entire hotel lobby is taken over by guests checking out and bags being left everywhere for guests leaving their luggage, including in the dining area. Nowhere to move, utter chaos. - final day in the hotel, the internet just vanished so we had no access due to the engineers working on it apparently There were so many issues from beginning to end. A terrible experience for my family. And it was not cheap by any means. Mistakes happen, especially in new hotels. I get that. But for me the measure is how a hotel responds to these failings when they are raised. And what was this hotels response to our experience? A complementary bottle of water and a bag of chips or a candy bar (but not both, that would be crazy right?). This empty and unthoughtful gesture sums up this hotel for me. We should have raised it with the manager but to be honest we just wanted to get out of there. Please avoid if you can.

The location of this hotel was perfect – we don’t usually like the crowds around Times Square, but we specifically picked this hotel because of its proximity to 30 Rock, as our goal for the weekend was to get standby tickets to SNL. If you want to be near Times Square, you can’t pick a better location. The check-in process was all done on the Hilton app, and we used our phones to unlock the door which sometimes worked beautifully, and other times was delayed. The room itself (Queen Studio Corner) was spacious for a NYC hotel room, and we had a great view of 48th Street and the Hard Rock Hotel – the windows were floor to ceiling (and the blackout curtains were also great)! You could tell that everything was new and very clean. The small kitchen area was well appointed with a medium-sized fridge/freezer, sink, dishes/cutlery, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and even a small dishwasher! The bathroom was very clean, although it would get warm when the door was closed because the AC didn’t seem to blow in there. The water pressure was a little on the low side, but it was fine. Not much space for toiletries around the sink, but we didn’t have much stuff so it wasn’t a big deal. The rooms are only serviced every other day, so make sure not to throw your towels on the floor after the first day. The room thermostat would not allow a temperature colder than 68 degrees, and it would shut off the second it hit 68 and then immediately warm up to 69. A little warm for us, especially when sleeping at night. Plus, the air cycled on and off at least 3 times in 10 minutes which was a little annoying, especially when trying to sleep. The elevators in the building were unique in that you selected your floor on a touchpad and then it would tell you which elevator to get on. The elevators were labeled in the lobby, but not on the floors with the rooms, so you had to remember which elevators were which. They didn’t “ding” when they opened which was good for quiet sleeping, but you had to make sure you continually scanned the doors for the one that opened. At around 9:30 AM, it was almost impossible to get an elevator down to the lobby…and the ones that did stop were already full of people heading down. We eventually just took the stairs down 12 floors. I'm sure it was just due to the crowds from breakfast/check-out time, but definitely frustrating. The free breakfast was perfect – so many options! Cereal, yogurt, waffle makers, eggs, sausage, hash browns, grab-and-go breakfast sandwiches, coffee, tea, juices. One of the best free hotel breakfasts I’ve ever experienced. Getting an elevator after breakfast was also a challenge, but we eventually stuffed into one. My biggest gripe was that we spent 2 nights in this hotel, spent LOTS of time around the city, and the fire alarm went off a total of 3 times just while we were in our room. The Friday afternoon around 4pm, at 3am in the morning on Saturday (quite a rude awakening), and then again on Saturday afternoon (again, around 3-4pm). It was always a false alarm, but something should be done about this as it really gave us a negative view of the experience. We didn’t have much interaction with the front desk as we used the Hilton app to check in, and as our room key, but we did ask if we needed to check out as we left, and the person behind the desk was super nice and just asked which room we were in. Overall, we were satisfied. The location and room were great, with our only gripes being the fire alarms, AC, and elevator wait times.

Stayed here on a 3-night trip with my teenage son in early January. Read to the bottom for my TIPS!||The GREAT| - Location, location, location. At one end of the block, you're in Times Square. Cross the street at the opposite end of the block and you're at Rockefeller. But the street itself is relatively quiet; we were on the 4th floor and the only road noise we heard was an emergency siren every once in a while. Numerous subway access points within a couple blocks. The hotel was about a 25 minute walk from our train at Moynihan Penn Station.||The Good| - Hand soap dispenser bottle in the bathroom. This was my first hotel that didn't give me a bar of soap to try to wash my hands with, and I'm here for it.| - The gym on the basement level. Pretty good variety of equipment (see photos). Dumbbells all the way to 75lbs. My suggested improvements would be a second bench and to lower the room temperature; it was too warm.| - Room was clean, beds were comfortable| - There was a small ice maker/water dispenser in the hallway| - Wifi worked fine| - When we had a clogged toilet one evening, someone came within 30 minutes of request| - We didn't hear noise from other rooms and barely any from the hallway (one crying baby). ||The OK/Met Expectations| - Breakfast - Basic and very busy. A bland meat, potato, and egg option every day, plus fruit, yogurt, waffle-maker, bread/bagel/muffins, cereal. The best were the grab-and-go breakfast sandwiches on the left side of the breakfast room (usually blocked by the line for the juice machine)| - Room size - It's a small New York room, wasn't surprised by size. We had two doubles. Worked great for us as two people. Four adults would be ::ahem:: cozy. Biggest issue, as others have mentioned, there is Nowhere to put suitcases. We just had travel backpacks and could set them on the one desk shelf and the bottom of the "closet" section. I think you'd have to leave suitcases in narrow gap between bed and wall, if they would fit. Why not leave open space under the beds or something...| - Check in - Took 20 minutes in line around 3 pm||The BAD| - They only gave us one room key card, even though two adults on the reservation, because they were short on cards. Never run into that before.| - HVAC/Room Temperature - Why in a new hotel in the Year of Our Lord 2024 can you not set the room temperature below 68??? That is just too warm. I do not understand. We made do, but it was definitely sub-optimal. (Knowing from other reviews this was an issue, I would have canceled this reservation if my husband had been traveling with us because he has to have a cooler environment to sleep). We could have left the window open but A. I shouldn't have to do that, and B. we were only on 4th floor so that would involve more street noise|And yes, the only options were to have the system cycle on and off automatically every few minutes, or to set the thermostat to continuous fan. We tried the fan, which unfortunately seems to be motion sensing so it would cut off a few times every night. Luckily the room is so small you can basically roll over in bed and hit the thermostat switch to restart. Ha.||Not rated: Elevators. I specifically requested a low floor because so many reviewers reported issues. The most I saw waiting in lobby for an elevator was probably around 12 people, but even then, there were still annoyances of the system saying to get in an elevator that was already full, or getting assigned to one that just left. ||SUMMARY: Considering we got a great room rate, it was a 4-star experience for us. But I'd look into other options for a future trip unless I knew the room temp control issues were resolved, and that we could be guaranteed to have a lower floor room again. ||TIPS| - Using the Hilton app, you can try to reserve a room in advance and get your digital key to avoid the check-in line. (The app let me select a room the day before check in, but then required me to check in in-person anyway since it was my first time using digital key, to verify my identity. And then when I checked in, the room I'd selected wasn't available, so this is a big YMMV) |- If you can handle a few flights of stairs, reserve or request a room on lower floors to avoid hassling with elevators! This worked great for us, always took stairs down from our 4th floor room. The only 2 times we had to take an elevator from lobby was when the outer door for accessing stairs was closed/locked. (The entrance to the staircase is hard find in lobby; it is on the lefthand wall when entering building. If you find a small white hall under an EXIT sign with several staff doors, you're in the right place. The stairs are through the door at the back of that little hall.) | - Odd number rooms face onto 48th St. The ones ending in -09 are closest to Times Square (good for view, bad for light pollution, depending on which you want). We had 407 and could see the sidewalk on the other side of the street and the Hard Rock Hotel. I enjoyed sitting on the desk looking out the window| - If your roommates are still sleeping in the morning, grab coffee in the lobby and a seat at the counter by the front entrance to people-watch the street | - There is an additional breakfast area, located down a flight of stairs all the way to the right when you enter the main breakfast area. More seating, and some of the same breakfast foods, like yogurt in a fridge under the counter and bagels/muffins - which go out of stock fast on the main level (No hot foods). This is also where you will find...

Hi 👋 |This is a post to review Hampton by Hilton Times Square (shares its location with Home2Suites, opposite hard rock hotel on west 48th steet) as I know it's a fairly new hotel and there will be people like me who scrambled to find a review on this page with no luck. Apologies there is no photos of the room 😒.|We originally booked a double room with a king size bed. When we arrived they offered us to change it to a double room with 2 queens at no extra cost which we graciously accepted as we were sisters sharing. 😊. ||Check in:||Check in was really straightforward but we did arrive at around midnight so no people or queue to check in. At busier times there was a queue for check in. The lobby has a bar as well as a snack counter where you can purchase snacks, drinks and microwave goods to fill you up if you need it. There is a rooftop bar but we didn't use it but reviews look good for this. The hotel does offer luggage storage for free. ||Rooms:||The room was fairly small but we did have room for what we needed. There is no room to store cases so if you're sharing this double room as a family of four I think space would be tight but for 2 people sharing it was fine. The room had basic amenities such as a coffee maker, steamer iron, hair dryer, free shampoo, conditioner, body wash and face soap. There was a mini fridge in the room as well as a microwave and a safe. Beds were comfortable, room was very clean and had a big tv which offered live tv and netfilx (sign in with own account) and tubi with free steaming in the room which was nice for the evenings. The room does have air conditioning but even though it's set to off it does cycle on and off all night which meant we had to wake up and turn it off, an annoying feature but didn't disrupt sleep too much.||Breakfast:||This hotel does offer free breakfast when booking but be warned the breakfast is extremely busy given the size of the hotel. We went down approx 8.30am each morning and it was a struggle to find a table and a bit of a queue for food. For example, they do have a waffle maker machine but expect at least a 30 min wait to use this as each waffle takes 6 minutes to make and people were making multiple which held the queue up. Breakfast is incredibly basic. On one day it would be eggs, potato hash and sausage and on the next day bacon, fried egg and sausage meat. They offered cereals fruit loops, granola, cheerios, bran flakes and then oatmeal. They had bagels, muffins and bread to toast. They did offer freshly prepared sandwiches too. There were multiple coffee stations and 1 tea station but there was only 1 juice station which led to a queue. I don't think the breakfast was anything to shout about. They do have a traffic light system telling you how busy breakfast is at each hour. I went down around 6.30am once and it was still very busy. There were often people standing eating or taking stuff back to rooms to eat.||Elevators:||The elevators were the WORST part of the stay. Expect at least a 30 minute wait for the elevators at peak times. They have a smart system where you input your floor and it assigns you an elevator but it becomes a free for all with people selecting multiple floors and pushing in and out to get an elevator. Each morning of our 4 night stay we gave up and took the stairs down 22 flights. (which wasn't too bad). This is something that you need to consider as it was carnage at peak times. ||Service charge:||This hotel does require a security deposit of around $100 a night (I think slightly more than this). I think It held around £380 on my card for a 4 night stay. This is refundable at the end of the trip provided there is no issues but something to factor in. ||My personal rating;||Despite the elevator issues I actually really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were friendly and hotel rooms themselves although small were nice, clean and comfortable. If I was to choose a hotel that included breakfast i probably wouldn't choose this one as I didn't feel the breakfast was well organised or a very good variety of food. I would pick a hotel with better breakfast options (for example the RUI hotel, I stayed there previously and the breakfast choice was amazing). As for location, well you can't beat it. It's right on times square in a very accessible location to other parts too and near a subway station (50th steet) which runs one of the main subway lines (the 1) and also runs the E subway line to JFK airport. ||Would I stay here again? Yes|Rating? 4/5 based on breakfast choice and...

The location is excellent near times square. I love the concept of 3 "hotels" in one. 5 out of 5 stars.

Check-in. We had to wait for a short time to check in, but it was pleasant and easy. We had to check in at the front desk even though we had a digital key. 5 stars out of 5.

Room. We had a queen suite for 3 people. The room is small and typical for a New York City hotel. With that said, the use of space is very smart overall. There are outlets with charging throughout the room. There was a small fridge/freezer, sink, microwave and dishwasher in the room. There were also drawers to keep clothing along with a closet. The bathroom setup was nice with a shower, sink and toilet. The shower water pressure was fine, but not strong. The bed was fine, but seemed smaller than a queen. The "sofa bed" is a twin size at best, but worked fine for our situation. 4.5 stars out of 5 stars.

Heating/Air. There is an individual control for the heating/air in each room. However, there is ALSO a vent/fan that continuously runs and is VERY loud - it's some type of central system. You can hear the AC/heat turning on and off as in a normal hotel - our unit worked fine. BUT, the second fan/vent is annoying (much louder than the AC unit). It's a VERY loud fan/vent running all the time. There was no way to turn this off. We heard several guests complaining about it at breakfast on our first morning...so realized it wasn't just our room. The front desk said they couldn't turn it off. 1 star out of 5 based on the noise.

Breakfast. Breakfast at this location was chaotic. There are 2 waffle stations total for the entire 3 hotels, so the line every day was about 20-30 minutes long. The one morning I stood in line for waffles, they ran out of batter and it took a while for someone to refill. For 3 of the 4 mornings, they only had 1 bank of stations open with hot items (there are 6 "stations", but only 3 were utilized). On the last morning, they had all 6 stations going and things ran much more smoothly (why didn't they use these every morning?). They constantly ran out of items and we had to wait for more food. The juice machine didn't work on 2 of the 4 mornings. The eating area is super crowded, but the staff did a nice job of cleaning up quickly when people were finished. While there were lots of coffee pots, we sometimes didn't have basic creamer or sugar available. They had a nice creamer dispenser, but it was empty one of our mornings. We never left hungry, but below average for a Hilton property. I'd give breakfast 2 stars out of 5.

Elevators. They were hit or miss. During the evening and afternoon hours, they work darn well. During the morning hours for breakfast and check out, they are a disaster. The system wastes so much time stopping on floors where nobody is there or the elevator is too full for more people. The most it took us to get down was about 15 minutes, but some people said it took them 30 minutes or longer. Elevators were 2 out of 5 stars.

Service. Room service came twice during our stay. They forgot to leave wash cloths after the first service. We asked for some replacements, but room service never brought them. We then asked at the front desk when we were down for breakfast, but again they never showed up to our room. I'd rate 3 out of 5 stars due to lack of follow through, but the room was clean overall throughout our stay.

Luggage. The hotel held our luggage for the day we checked out. This was very much a benefit we needed as our plane didn't leave until after 8pm. The amount of bags this hotel deals with is astonishing. There were bags everywhere in the morning. However, they have a tag system and the staff did an amazing job at organizing and providing our luggage back to us when we were ready to leave. Kuddos to the baggage team! Strong 5 out of 5 stars here!

Overall, we got a great rate so the pro's outweighed the con's. I'd stay again if I got a great deal again. But, there are lots of other...
