Opening night was so exciting. I’m usually not a big fan of one man shows but this one was an exception. Great performance by Ruben Santiago-Hudson as he took on the personas of multiple characters in Lackawanna Blues. Welcome break theater. Although it was indicated on a little note that came with my tickets, there was no ask for the vaccine cards and the theater was full. Thus, the omitted star. I didn’t really bother to look around at the audience but it did seem like most people kept masks on. For a moment I thought the performer would exit character to admonish a stupid patron who let a cell phone ring on and on. It seemed like he made a conscious decision to get on with the show. Honestly, I wouldn’t have blamed him if he decided to shame the patron. Sad how many grownups still need a spanking. Thanks Ruben and the accompanying guitar player who brought light back to the great white way. And thanks to Manhattan Theater Club for their persistence in getting me back to...
Read moreThe show was great as well as most of the staff, but one staff member ruined the experience. You would’ve thought we were military trainees the way she was speaking to us. Not sure if she works for the theatre itself or theatre company, but either way she should not be on a team designed for hospitality. Yelled at an old man for having his mask under his nose and continued shouting at him in front of everyone even though the message was more than clear. Told us she’d kick us out if we pulled down our mask or our phones rang. It was not even stern; just plain rude. She was constantly moving around during the show to spy on everyone and it was very distracting and just unnecessary. This isn’t a dictatorship, it’s a play. She was white, heavyset, has short brown hair with a little streak of blonde and brown eyes. Please replace her, she worked in the upper mezzanine for this specific performance (April 23 @2 pm). I’ve genuinely never met someone more...
Read moreThe broadway musical Choir Boy was fantastic. The entire show was absolutely entertaining. The entire cast members were phenomenal. The voices were rich in tone and soulful harmony. The acting was sensational, filled with such intensity from one moment to the next, until the very climatic ending. I also loved that the cast even autographed playbills too. That made it even more of a special night for me. Shout out to all the cast members and crew that made the show pop! Shout out to Jeremy Pope and John Clay lll that signed my play bill . Shout out to the playwright and actor Tarell Alvin McCraney your outstanding and amazing. I really...
