Ok. Let’s start with the good. Host at front desk, she was so nice and greeted us as if she knew us! The ambience is really nice. It’s definitely a vibe in there, numerous star spotting while I was there with my party of 6; Instagram worthy, If that’s what you’re looking for… However, if you’re looking for good service and food to match the price, this is not the place for you. I don’t know about you, but I’m the type of person that will drop money on good food, I don’t care the price if the food is good and the service is better I’m here for it, at any price level. The food was not worth the price. The dumplings were a mess, run of the mill frozen dumplings from Trader Joes . We ordered probably five different varieties and two of the five were “good”; one was edible two were is downright nasty. Nothing that made your mouth water. The 4 lbs lobster, tasted like lobster sauce from your local let’s say “higher end” chinese restaurant, Nothing that would’ve cost you $160. The chicken satay tasted like it was soaked in water as seasoning and then with a peanut glazed. Everyone at the table said it tasted like nothing. The young lady who ordered it said it was her favorite from here and this is not how she was used to it tasting. My daughter and her friend had the Ville in the lamb chops they seem to enjoy that. The crab meat fried rice was good, although they just dumped crabmeat on top with no flavor, no nothing-Just imagining open a can of crab meat, dumping it on top of your rice, that is what we received; The rice was tasty But not my idea of crab meat, fried rice. My drink Lychee Froze , was phenomenal best thing I had there; we had about $250 worth of drinks and they were really the star of the show! But really what made the night, was at the end, informed our waiter that one guest in our party was celebrating a birthday. It felt as if he was annoyed we weren’t ready to go or maybe he was just frustrated with something not to do with us, but the waiter felt the need to inform us that it was going to be $18 for the the slice, as if we would have a problem with an $18 slice when we were spending about $1000 at this point in the restaurant thus far. About 20 min later( in my sponge bob voice), yes 20 min later he brought the cake, dropped it on the table and walked alway; we thought he was going to start singing happy birthday song. He literally dropped the cake in front of her and walked away. We all sat there looking at each other, Once we realized he was not coming back and we were on our own; we sung happy birthday; we opted for the red velvet as that and chocolate was the only option. We didn’t enjoy it because it had confetti sprinkles on it the type the you put on a child’s ice cream cone. Again, that was what the six people at the table thought none of us enjoyed it, we brought that to the attention of the waiter and he just said yeah that’s how they do . We thought maybe he would say did you want to try the chocolate cake, nope; crickets. But the whole experience of him, dropping the cake and walking away just really tanked the already lacklustered experience. I actually wasn’t even going to post my comments on the food here until the cake incident. Because food is subjective what I may not like one person may love. I tend to be horrible experiences not whether I like the food or not. It has to be something else to accompany the bad food that would make me post. All, but one of the guests had never been here before; her brother is in the music industry and they come often so she touted this place to us, and it was on all of the other guests’ to do list; I have no reason to come back; if and when she invites me again,I will sit...
Read moreThe atmosphere was overcrowded which should be a good sign of a popular place right ? Not.🫤😐….The NYC lights , the ambience , the DJ , the beautiful people vibing all out, we saw it all , as we peered in from the outside will waiting online as the hour-ALL tables were overbooked. We arrived on time and the door man said “get in line” . I made reservations a week prior - prepaid $95.00 per person for R&B Friday nights and We waited outside from 11:15pm until 12:05pm. The bouncer was not letting anyone in.
After an hour of waiting , By 12:05 we finally we made it inside , and it gets worse . We waited another 10minutes to get to hostess who asked us if we would like to cancel our reservation as they are fully booked for the night. Management stated that there are no seats available and that they will give us refund, and a gift card if we wish to cancel or we can stand up for the night and pay $50 each!
“It Gets Worse “ - 12:20am So we declined the offer because at this point we paid for parking and other restaurant kitchens were soon closing. They gave us two drink tickets and said that they will call us shortly. It took 15min to order a drink at the bar, after 30 minutes we saw the party behind us be seated so we ran back to hostess to inquire. The hostess stated “well we texted you 3times” confidently holding up three fingers, she pointed to the computer screen and asked , isn’t this your number ? Then went on to say , I’m sorry we have cancelled your reservation because you were a no show. In shock, I stated that this is a birthday celebration and that we already paid $200.00 for reservations, which they responded “ I’m sorry, we will give you a refund “.
12:55am My cousin then went over to the hostess and demanded to speak to management and insisted that they show us EVIDENCE that I was contacted 3 times. They searched through the system and to no avail, they never reached out . To make matters worse, they lied and they cancelled our reservations 10 minutes after we checked in around 12:05.The management apologized and assured us that they will find the two of us seats…
“And just when we think it can’t get any worse “ We are seated at 1:10am , in a section with nice comfy booth seats , Jim Jones and his squad walks in and is seated next to us. They order food and it comes out within minutes. No one comes to our table for over 20 minutes. I flag the waiter down , and he walks over looking confused and states “ the kitchen is closed, it closed 30 minutes ago , I didn’t know y’all were here for food “ . The guy who was with rapper Jim jones talks to the waiter, who then agrees to get us food. We order quick appetizers and then wait for the waiter to come back so we can order the entree, he says “ yall are out of time, kitchen is closed but you can order a few drinks and that’ll come up to 100 “ I don’t k ow about a refund now, let me get my manager. Management came over and they were not helpful at all with providing a refund, they claimed that we can clear up the remaining $110 food credit on our bill by ordering more drinks . I was speechless 😶 and livid because I am not a drinker and was already at my limit. Needless to say . I felt taken...
Read moreOk, I didn’t want to write a review because this is a place I would love to come back and support, but the experience wasn’t what I believe it should have been and hopefully there will be some improvements in the future. This is an Asian fusion styled restaurant which I thought would be amazing. The price point is high, and I think that is why I’m so disappointed.
Atmosphere
Good: Beautiful place. The music was great. The decoration and seating was beautiful.
Bad: The all white downstairs. The white floors are easy to scuff, so there was a lot of noticeable dirt on the floor and the bathrooms sat in the center of the room (I’m nitpicking with the bathrooms, but it was a less than appealing layout). Next, what ruined the atmosphere were people in their hoodies, and crocs. While dress codes can be touchy and border on racial bias, the hoodies, sweatpants and crocs shouldn’t be allowed. And everyone had a hoodie on and flip flops or crocs. I expected a level of elegance because it is a classy restaurant, but it felt more like casual dining. Also, our reservation was at 9pm and there was a crying child in the restaurant. After 9pm children shouldn’t be allowed. I understand parents want to enjoy themselves and they should be able to, but not at the expense of ruining the time for other guests.
Food
The short rib bao buns were amazing! Very good. I’ll make sure to get those again.
The beef and chicken satay were okay. Reminded me of the chicken and beef on a stick I used to get from the corner store back in high school. Braised short rib with lo mein was solid. The meat was tender, but it all was drenched in a sauce (?) so getting a true flavor from the meat was hard.
Experience
When entering the hostesses seemed confused about our reservation. They told us to be seated and approached us again, with what appeared to be frustration with whomever was helping them manage obviously wasn’t facilitating the floor well.
While we waited for our table (which was about a 20 minute wait) we were offered drinks from the bar tender. That was amazing! She was so friendly.
We were finally taken to our seats. And we started to settle in and review the menu. I had some questions about the menu that I wanted to ask the server, but no one ever came to our table, not even to offer water or or say they’d be over momentarily. We waited for a server from about 925/930p - 955p, which is when we decided to get up and ask for a server.
Because of this the manager handled us and helped to rectify the situation. She was so sweet and helpful and honestly Christine (?) and the bartender who worked the main floor bar on Sunday, June 18th around 9pm saved the entire experience. And helped this to not become a 1 star review.
With it being a new location and probably just a busy evening I’ll give it grace. Hopefully, if we come again the experience...
