Early Evening Date w/ Unique Bao & Speakeasy Drinks

No need to go to Japan, it’s all here. No need to order online. It’s all available here every single Japanese snacks you can think of is available here including specialty foods, hot as well as cold. I personally come here for the sushi because it’s always fresh .Any type of Japanese snacks you can dream of is available here. The place is always busy because everybody from the neighborhood shops here and for good reason. I take an hour ride by train just to come here for the sushi. There’s so many things I can possibly think of. And I think I will probably forget, but this selection is immense. This is not the typical small store, this store has everything including household items, toiletries, and snacks from Japan. The owner always has a pleasant personality. It literally took me 20 minutes to see everything you won’t be disappointed coming here.

I've always had a pretty good experience here and today's experience really irked me. I always come to Ten Ichi because there aren't any Asian markets in the area. While it is small, they usually have everything I need in one place. Today, this was my one stop shop and I knew I was going to be carrying a lot of stuff with me so I brought one of those giant Trader Joe's reusable bags because I can easily just throw it over my shoulder. With the many glass bottles of sauces and items I was getting it was going to be heavy bag. I get my items and check out, the cashier explained me that I was not allowed to use my personal bag and next time had to use one of their hard carry baskets. I explained to him that it would've been too heavy to carry all those items using that hard basket as opposed to my bag that I can toss over my shoulder. He tells me it's not allowed, and pointed at the sign. The sign does say that no personal bags allowed, it asks to use a basket because of frequent dropping of items and food so if it's to prevent the dropping of items and food does it matter if it's a personal bag or their basket?? Both are put in a safe place so I don't see why I can't use my personal bag?? Another thing is that their baskets are handle only baskets so if you have a disability of any sort that prevents you from carrying or lifting heavy items there's no way you would be able to shop here if you plan on getting multiple items. My mother always shop with her little reusable shopping bag that has wheels because she's incapable of lifting heavy items so this would obviously not be a place she would be able to shop at if she HAS to shop with one of their baskets. After the whole ordeal you can see the cashier was upset because of our back and forth, he didn't bother packing my groceries up for me and threw my receipt in the bag and didn't say thank you or anything. Really disappointed in today's service and their cashier's attitude. If they would like for people to not use their personal bags to shop maybe they should be a little more inclusive with the types of baskets they offer and have some that have the long handle with wheels because this is not just a tiny little place you can get snacks, it's a full on market where you can buy groceries and these things can...

Be aware of a Karen who works here. Extremely rude staff. She was working the counter around 6:20-6:30pm on Wednesday. I just needed some mint and I waited for in line for a while until the customer before me finished. And when it was my turn I asked her between a few products (packs of gum, candies and mints) which one was the mint because I didn’t understand the labels (they were in Japanese). She didn’t help me and when another one of her colleagues started to help me (it took five seconds for us to figure out which one was mints), she took the next person in line while totally ignoring me and the fact that I was waiting for a while to pay for a pack of mint and that she didn’t want to help me. When I asked if I could just pay, she said don’t you see I am helping others customers. It was just a pack of mint, for which I waited a long time to pay already and instead of helping me she just skipped me and chose to help the other customers. The following customers had bags and bags of groceries. I felt that she was unnecessarily condescending and had the attitude that I didn’t know how things work, like...

I used to come here every week for the 50% off after 8pm but I am sad to note that I am very disappointed at the staff that works there, mainly 2 men. They are very rude, not empathetic and they do not try to listen or understand you. I was making time while walking around the store with my sushi already in hand, and someone that just came in the store push me with their back without realizing and I dropped one of the sushi box from my hand. Even though I was the one that cleaned and came to them to let them know and asked where should I put the sushi that fell? They answered at me mad and with attitude like if I had the fault and on top of that, they made me pay for the whole box even though it wasn’t my fault. Super dissapointed with! them! I understand if you did it on purpose, but doing it without realizing and making them pay its very unfair and unprofessional! You lost one...
