I want to make it clear that since the ownership change of Dashing Diva to Posh Nails. I gave them a fair try but shortly afterwards, I didnāt feel that what I asked for was respected. If they planned to take Dip/SNS off the menu then please be transparent and tell me upfront instead of pushing hard gel on me. I have found a new salon since then. Before I first found Dashing Diva (before Posh Nails); it had taken me a while to find a true nail salon where I didnāt feel rushed in quality, and they did SNS (dip) nails that worked super well for my nails and made me feel great. Also for a a great price and even had a good relationship the technicians while I was there. I thought I would go to this nail salon forever, to be honest.
So when I came in one day and there was a new owner, that was absolutely not a problem at first as I was still happy to get my dip SNS nails, even if the prices had risen from new management etc. We were all very cordial but then I noticed some things (I traveled all the way there for) that started to change. In fact, the new owner sat down next to me and explained that they would no longer be doing SNS/ dip nails and that I needed to ātrustā her and start doing the hard gel manicure. Which means that the nail technique that I had been searching all over for specifically, was no longer being offered there; and that I needed to completely change my preference in how I take care of my nails.
To hear that they would no longer be doing dip/ SNS nails and that I would āneed to listen to herā and do a whole different technique didnāt feel right. I actually explained multiple times that I had TRIED this before, but my nails are very fine/ fragile that still cracked with hard gel and I had finally found what worked for me - SNS Nails. To prove this point - I even shared photos as proof that with hard gel, after a week, I would get cracks in the nail and make another trip to the salon so this was not ideal. Again, I had tried before but I now only feel comfortable with SNS nails which I made clear.
I understand that dip nails take alittle longer than gel, but if this a self care investment on my dime, that is my decision, and ultimately it should be respected! I also come from a business mindset and could read in between the lines that hard gel = faster turnover and more business versus SNS nails which takes longer but is worth it. Isnāt customer happiness and returns more important overall? I have seen in the reviews other customers that feel that the quality/ experience has changed too so Iām not alone.
Ultimately I just wanted to share my experience, even if the owner didnāt mean to come across this way (she seems nice overall) but this is how I felt after my experience here. To confirm, I even told her that I didnāt feel comfortable changing the technique that I know works for my body, but she said I needed too and they were were discontinuing the dip color I had used for 2-3 YEARS at Dashing Diva. In fact I almost had to beg for that specific visit (since it was the first time I had heard of this management change) that I would not be doing the hard gel manicure that day. She then clearly stated that she would honor it as a final time for SNS nails (I didnāt know I would have to fight so hard for what I want). Again, this was off putting and made me feel funny inside. So if this review does anything, I hope it shows the owner that you can state the changes but please do not try to persuade someone to do something they donāt feel comfortable with (especially with their hard earned money). Thatās called respect. I do not invest in āself careā time to make me feel like this.
Since this experience, Iāve found a place who even went over and beyond to order the SNS dip color (even before my first appointment to ensure that I felt comfortable) and has never questioned or pressured me to do something else that I vocally stated I do not want to do. My opinion is respected. I do hope the best to your business and wanted to share that these actions have truly impacted me and I do not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am leaving this review as a long time customer of Dashing Diva, which was the name of the salon before it was sold in May 2025 to a new owner, who changed the name to Posh Nails. I waited until I had gone to Posh Nails at least twice before writing this review, to ensure a fair critique. Dashing Diva merited 5 stars; in its new incarnation as Posh Nails, it's getting 2 stars.
I came to Dashing Diva every 2 weeks for manicures and pedicures since it opened at least 15 years ago. It was my neighborhood nail joint. I loved the friendly and talented nail techs, as well as the investment in a wide variety of nail polish offerings. The employee turnover was low, and the salon was always busy - sign of high employee and customer satisfaction. I never felt rushed at Dashing Diva, and neither did the techs, which meant the manicures and pedicures were always top notch. Even after I moved from Brooklyn to Jersey City due to rent increases last year, I kept coming back to Brooklyn because I couldn't find a single salon in Manhattan or Jersey City that lived up to the standards I had been accustomed to at Dashing Diva.
Sadly, the change in ownership has resulted in changes to the salon. The techs are not given enough time to do their work, so services feel rushed. They do their best, but I received a manicure today that would have been unimaginable just a few weeks ago. The wide selection of nail polish has been whittled down to just a couple of sample books from Shellac and OPI - I could have cried when my tech told me the other lines were no longer available. No more bottled water, no more hand scrubs, and prices have gone up.
What makes me the most sad is that Dashing Diva, as it existed, was like the nail salon version of "Cheers" - where everybody knew your name. You could relax, see the same friendly faces every couple of weeks, and yes, get a high quality nail service. Although many of the Dashing Diva techs remain, I am worried they will not stay given the pressure to rush through services and clear change in management style. In a city that is constantly changing, perhaps I should not be surprised that my neighborhood nail salon, too, could not stay the same forever, but this girl could,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDashing Diva is a well kept nail salon offering a variety of manicure and pedicure services for those who like to pamper themselves. It is always clean, the nail ladies there are pleasant.
I have my preferred options as I like to go to the person who is familiar with what I like so I donāt have to repeat myself every time I go. I can just relax and be pampered. Unfortunately a few of my regulars have moved on over the years I have been going there, but majority are really good. One or two times I had to get a redo because for some reason the gel wasnāt smooth but 95% of the time I am satisfied with how my nails look. The Divarama Pedicure is good, but I find the wrap with the product that is used to remove dead skin and provide a smoother heel doesnāt work great as though I have smooth feet, it still feels a bit rough and dry, but could be due to the winter temperatures too.
Winnie and Yumi , owner and manager takes great care of the place and are very pleasant . Christina is also amazing and alternates between front reception and nails is excellent at both.
Please note if you want Acrylic Tips , they donāt provide that, but have alternatives for extending your nails and they do have gel nail polish. Best to call and make an appointment, but if space is available I think they take walk-ins. Suitable for Everyone Men, Women, couples even kids, IF you allow them to get their nails done!
This year was the first I received, I guess ā a christmas giftā of $10.00 discount coupon for my bill being more than a particular amount . I thought that was nice gesture.
And yes they are a bit pricey in comparison to others but you get the complete package- Great Ambience, Great Team, Clean and a small bottle of water is offered to you most times you go š and your hands and feet will leave making you look and feel like a...
