I went to pick up my Macy's package, and the person at the front desk seemed inexperienced and unsure of what to do. He repeatedly asked me to pull up my account and state my name multiple times. After about 10 minutes, he told me he couldn't do anything to help me. I was there simply to pick up my package, and I was really surprised by how unprepared he was. Instead of consulting his supervisors or managers, he asked me questions as if I were the one responsible for handling the situation. At that point, I said, "You need to put in some effort here; I don’t know, I’m not working here." Another person then chimed in, saying, "He’s putting in effort, there are a lot of packages here." I responded, saying that the questions he was asking were not my responsibility and that this should be an easy task that he couldn’t manage. He then told me to "shut up." I responded with "shut up," and things escalated from there. It got louder and more tense. I've never been treated this way at UPS. I have a delivery driver who always brings my packages to my door, and I've never encountered such rude service before. I think cultural background of them being man and I was a woman, it was ok for them to speak to a female that way for them. It was not like that a year ago. What is...
Read moreOut of all the UPS locations I've had the misfortune of dealing with, this one's definitely been the most frustrating. Haven't had a single visit go smoothly -- they seem disorganized and take a long time finding boxes. If they tell you that your package has been received at their holding location, it's actually only sitting on their delivery truck, and you have to wait another day to pick it up. They also only hold packages temporarily, and don't notify you of this upfront, or warn you of when your package will be (or has been) returned back to sender. If you can't be there to receive your package directly (which, unless you have a doorman or don't work a 9-5, you won't be), getting your stuff will be a pain. Unfortunately we don't typically have a choice of where to go for our mail, but if we did, I'd be avoiding this location 100% of the time.
Edit: Their response suggests that they attempt deliveries before holding packages. This is not always the case -- they will leave a note despite never even buzzing your apartment, and will often not attempt to deliver a second time. They also absolutely did NOT notify me that the package was going to be held for only 7 days, or would be returned to sender,...
Read moreI usually have no issues here but over the past week there seems to be a change in personnel and they are absolutely rude/unhelpful/and truly useless. This is the literal exchange I had last week when I went there to have them ship and return a Verizon 5G home.
“Hi, I’d like to return this- here is my shipping label” (I show them the image on my phone).
“…you’re gunna have to print that out”.
“Right…can’t you print it for me?”
“It will cost you 4 dollars”
“Ok, that’s fine!”
I email it to them. I then take out the item to ship back with the label.
“You’re going to need a box”
I point to the wall with a giant poster listing their box and ship services
“Right..can’t you do that for me??”
“It’ll cost you 16$”
“That is fine..”
I am not sure what’s going on here but I felt like I was treated oddly for being a woman? I frequently feel that way on Steinway and this seemed to fit into that vein of making things difficult/not helpful to me.
Please teach your new staff how to talk to customers and offer them actual Help. I also went back again yesterday to drop off items to be shred and was met with the same useless indifference. I am aware I need to pay for things at the store. That’s...
