What an experience! What a pleasure! What a delight! One word... Amazing ! Food and service were spectacular.. I would recommend Celeste everyone. Many places to pick at Upper west side! and here is the right place. I checked Google and found Celeste. The food was so good, we had a pizza with gorgonzola and sausage, vongole spaghetti ,( my husband’s favorite) gnocchi with pesto sauce with Ligurian style , Sardinian smoked sort fish and the best of the best Lasagna with 4 types of mushrooms with béchamel sauce My God it was amazing! Also we paired all these meals with Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Cabernet Sauvignon. Company and atmosphere was fun! service was very good. Owner Carmine was making sure that we were good and giving all the food instructions also he knows a lot about wines he even knows when the wines harvested. What a knowledge even In Michelin restaurant they don’t give these experiences! everybody in the place have had fun. My husband is Italian and we have these foods only in Italy we flew from Buffalo and came here to felt like we are in Italy. Briefly, Celeste is made us feel like in home. Far to go back to Italy bur definitely come back here. Thank you

This is one of my favorite restaurants in New York City. Homemade Italian cooking. The staff is fantastic the owner, Mr. Carmine Mitroni, is such a welcoming gentleman. The host of the most magnificent party ever. The food is always wonderful. Just exquisite . Whenever I have visitors from out of town, this is where I bring them! It’s the kind of place that we need to hold onto here in Manhattan. They also do a fabulous brunch on weekends. Today, I tried the frittata and it was delicious, along with fresh arugula salad and a classic cappuccino. Not too crowded for brunches, usually. The one refinement I'd recommend is for the Sunday brunch music to be a bit more "chill". (Today, it had a bit too much disco beat for me.) Thanks to Mr. Mitroni, a true artist. Plus all the staff members-- they are all so great and welcoming. Juan is an especially great ambassador!

This is one of the very first CASH ONLY restaurants patronized that does not take bank cards. When making the reservations earlier this evening whomever spoken to, mumbled something over the phone unintelligible to make out whatever said?? So, presumably did not take heed. Then waited for my colleague to arrive and head over to this restaurant for the 7:30 reservations. Upon arrival I moseyed into the main dining area where we were greeted and asked if the reservation was indoors or outdoors? It was indoors. There was a larger table directly across from ours with up to 17-18 hospital employees dining. An admixture of Chinese-Americans, East Indian fellows, Hispanic, and a few other decisively ethnic Caucasian males and females all seated together in a conference styled manner facing one another—at the tables pulled together. It wasn’t long after we were finally settled in and had ordered wine that there was this unmistakable chatter led by one of the young ladies leaning over stating « He’s a man? Right? » « No. He’s a Man who identifies as a Woman … » and the Chinese doctor in hospital scrubs chimed in to confirm their seance, about this individual. Of course seated as closely as we were overhearing the entire conversation, word for word per verbatim. It obviously smacked of true ‘heterosexism’ given the age distributions between these young ladies discussing that relevance (23-29), and the males anywhere from (24-29) at most. Very mature for their age and intelligence, yet what was so defining that it helped identify how consensus among those within a «unionization » can sociopolitically conjure up make-believe responses and clear cutting facts as if it were in fact undeniable. Gathering that this (like AOC) and other Democratic Socialists, rely heavily on solidarity—to settle differences in factors affecting judgement calls and identifying individuals in their perspective realities like gay males do to each other or within the broader context of American ‘Woke’ acculturation. Evidently it’s inescapably more strident to contest how the labeling garners « sexual discrimination » or plainer make-believe ad hoc psychodynamic biopsychosocial déterminants to render their consensus to score unsuspectingly against another. Like The Boston Tea Partyers—movement. In any event this barrage of laughter and answers that filled the entire evening as we sat having our say with our meal on the premises. What became more ad nauseum was the malcontentious nature surfaced as normal standardized protocols. Round table discussion. Briefing and conclusion all mete out in a matter of moments— suggesting this is how Mt.Sinaï placed that identifier on my Discharge Summary as one being a « 61-Year Old F-T-M recovering from Covid-19». Of course, ultimately perhaps the semiotics were untimely but the recursive was indeed brought to topic literally in my presence as one of the same reasons. It appeared my colleague’s efforts to keep me from lending insight from them than spending more time on a prefixe meal or ordering items separately. Leaving certain preponderance about everything in the long term questioning, even the meal. Aside the horrendous defame made by these hospital employees as a whole, the physician included, albeit aiding the young ladies to “think harder and more clearly” seemed utterly distasteful for ever having chosen coming there for dinner since it wasn’t a place normally we would patron. On the other hand, this restaurant has a high popularity among the Westside residents and is well established. Though when it came down to the tab, not realizing they took cash only left me no alternative than to walkover to 86th & Columbus to go to the bank. Which for the amount of time and undesirable effort to and from this establishment was secondary to not really a terrific place to dine after all was said and done in that duration. Freely being there anti-sociably with these other Asian people. It’s unimaginable to also predicate your views at strangers and using every means to dissuade. One place I would not recommend whatsoever.

I recently dined at Celeste and must say that my experience was a bit underwhelming. While the food was decent, it was nothing to write home about. The pizza, in particular, was disappointing as it was poorly leavened and lacked the desired flavor, didn’t have the features of an italian pizza, let alone neapolitan. The artichokes, on the other hand, were good but the portion size was quite small. The burrata was just average. The rigatoni alla norma were tasty and well cooked, probably the best dish. Service-wise, things were okay. The staff were friendly and did their best to attend to our needs. However, I was quite disappointed to learn that the restaurant only accepts cash. In this day and age, that's not very convenient for customers. The biggest issue I had with Celeste was their policy of offering a free dessert in exchange for a positive review on Google. This creates biases and explains the discrepancy in ratings between Google (4.6) and Yelp (3.5). In my opinion, the restaurant is definitely worth more of a 3.5 rating than a 4.6. Obviously, I didn’t take advantage of this since I wanted to write an unbiased review. Overall, while Celeste is an okay spot to grab a bite, I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again.

I had high hopes for this place given all the high reviews. While the service was adequate and friendly, the food just wasn't very good. I wonder if all the high reviews have something to do with the fact that they give you a free dessert if you leave a review while you're still in the restaurant. The bread served before the meal had a nice rosemary flavor, but a strange gummy texture that was pretty unpleasant. Following the bread, we had spaghetti with white clams sauce and gnocchi with pesto sauce. Both dishes were terribly under-seasoned. The menu said that the gnocchi were homemade, but they tasted like they were out of a box and the texture was rubbery. The sauce on the gnocchi was not the fresh, robust, herby flavor that I expected. The spaghetti dish was just bad. It was just a pile of spaghetti with a dozen tough clams in the shell with no real sauce, flavor, or seasoning. I cannot recommend this place.

I’ve dined here more times than I can count, and it’s well worth the trip from Chinatown in the Lower East Side with my wife and kids. The food is consistently outstanding. The Fritto Misto Di Pesce is a standout, perfectly crispy and flavorful, and the Lasagnetta Di Verdure is always a great choice. While chicken livers aren’t for everyone, here they’re a full meal unto themselves and absolutely delicious. The salads are fresh, vibrant, and have a wonderful citrusy punch. My wife loved the lasagna, and the bolognese is truly extraordinary—some of the best we’ve ever had. Living near Little Italy, we’ve had our fair share of Italian food, but this place blows them all away. This is hands down some of the best and most authentic Italian cuisine you’ll find on the Upper East Side."
