Westside Market at 12th and 3rd Avenue in NYC is a true gem in the neighborhood. The other night, I had plans to see Gladiator 2 at AMC Village 7, just a block away on 11th and 3rd. With a bit of time to spare, I decided to pop into Westside Market to grab a snack for the movie. As I wandered through their beautifully stocked produce section, the fresh, plump grapes caught my eye. I couldn’t resist. I bought a bag and, yes, I sneaked them into the theater. Sitting there, enthralled by the epic battle sequences, I found myself happily munching on those deliciously sweet grapes, a little slice of healthful indulgence during the cinematic spectacle. It was perfection.
A week later, I attended a catered event at NYU, and I was stunned to discover that Westside Market had provided the catering. Their food was an absolute hit! The cookie spread was out of this world—soft, chewy, and with the perfect touch of sweetness. The chicken wings? Tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It was one of those rare moments where you stop and think, “Wow, this is from my local market!”
Take it from me, a native New Yorker, Westside Market is where you want to be for fresh produce, delicious food, and friendly staff. Accept no substitute. Make mine, West...
Read moreThis place is tiny , small narrow isles, checkout counters the size of a cutting board, and the biggest of all rude short staff. I walked in early about 8 am with a grocery list and since I’ve never been to this store I really thought some help would be nice. But everyone pretended to not know where anything was , bounced me around from member to member, no one and I mean no one wanted to help. It was to a point that a lady wanted to help me and a woman next to her told her not to and to ask a man to help me. I asked her why and she turned her back and didn’t say a word. All I needed was direction to where the items were. Most of the things I was looking for were out of stock. Finally the manager came to help me with a few items and I was ready to checkout until the young girl at the register got mad at me for putting too much stuff on the counter. She immediately started shoving my stuff and raised her voice at me to stop. I’ve never been treated like this anywhere and I mean anywhere. I felt like I was specifically being discriminated on and the employees there were prejudice. Will never...
Read moreThis review is about dishonesty. I have lived in the area long before Westside Market. I shop at Whole Foods, Agata & Valentina, Trader Joes, & Morton Williams all in the neighborhood, and have not experienced the same issue.
Every time I go to the WestSide Market the scanner rings up a different price on 1 or 2 items than the posted price, in today's case 2 items. I'm a typical New Yorker and usually distracted by something at check out. The first and second time I noticed it was by accident, from that point on I began to pay close attention. I have not been in the sore once since I started paying attention that it did not happen. The store help is always nice about it - I've pointed it out 6 times in as many weeks, not only to the cashier, but to the management as well since a manager is needed to reverse a scan entry.
At this point, I don't believe it's an error. If you shop there, pay attention; you've...
