My husband and I purchased tickets online for a showing at the Newport AMC. We got a sitter, paid for parking and since we ordered online the ticket taker scanned my phone upon arrival. He showed us which theater and we then paid a fortune for snacks and drinks. We sat down for an 840pm showing around 815pm. After sitting there and going through all the preview stuff the movie was starting, but a manager came to us and asked to see our tickets because another couple had those seats . I showed him my phone and he rudely said, today is not the 3rd. I was confused because I bought these tickets late the night before so why would their online system sell the wrong tickets. Any way, because at this point we were super embarrassed, we asked to speak to a manager in the hall. He said I am the manager in a rude tone, and escorted us out like we were teenagers who snuck into a movie. I asked him why his ticket taker didn't catch this, because we arrived an hour early and we could have gotten different tickets or saved a huge embarrassment not to mention a lot of time that has now been wasted. He went on to say this actually happens all the time. Um, thats a problem that this theater should fix. So I then asked him to get us different seats for the movie, he said there weren't any, without checking. He said I can give you a refund and vouchers for another time. No thanks, We won't be coming back to any AMC. We told him nights out aren't easy to come by with kids and he just kept saying I know I have a kid, he seemed aggravated and discourteous. When he went to get us a refund the girl at the register looked at him confused and went on to roll her eyes. There were so other many ways he could have handled the situation but instead we left feeling accused and like we had been thrown out of a movie. Also when I asked for his supervisor name and contact he gave me a corner of a torn of piece of paper with a 877 number written on it. Very unprofessional for a large company, business cards with customer concern info and numbers are more appropriate. Not to mention he only refunded us $22 when online you pay fees so I actually was owed $25.72. This all being said I will NEVER go to an AMC theater again, there system fails and they treat you like garbage. "Management" is obviously lacking in customer service training. Also I wish there were an option for a zero star rating, they only received a 1 star because that was my...
Read moreMy wife and I watched the first showing of the day at 2:15. The experience at the theater was unacceptable. First, as I waited in line for concessions I noticed the young man behind the counter was scooping popcorn out of a garbage bag that was sitting on the floor for other guests. My wife and I were perplexed at the site. When it was my turn to place my order I politely asked the clerk why he was scooping popcorn out of a garbage bag and how long ago was it popped? He stammered quite a bit and said it was popped a couple of hours ago and the heater on their popcorn machine was broken and that’s why it was in the garbage bag (makes no sense). I told him no way I was spending $10 on popcorn out of a trash bag and no way it was popped two hours ago because the theater didn’t open until 2:00. Instead of offering to pop fresh (as the sign advertised “freshly popped popcorn”) he just shrugged his shoulders and let my us walk away. This was unfortunate because my wife and I didn’t eat lunch and were planning to make this popcorn our lunch. I even returned to the concession stand mid way through the movie to see if fresh popcorn had been made. It was obvious it hadn’t and they had now pre-filled about 10 large buckets of popcorn. This essentially ruined our movie experience before we even walked into the theater. Before entering the theater we stopped at the bathroom. You would expect since the theater just opened for the day the bathrooms would be sparkling clean instead they stunk of urine and were dirty and no paper towels in the dispenser. Then we arrive in the theater and notice trash everywhere. Old popcorn presumably from yesterday littered the floor. Old soda cans are pushed down in between the chairs. The chairs were dirty with gunk and candy/trash in the cupholders. It was clear no one in the midst of a pandemic had taken any time to clean the theater prior to our movie. Obviously the management and staff of this theater do not care to keep customers coming back. Filth and subpar concessions will have me never returning to this theater. This theater is truly beautiful with oversized screens in a fun area of Northern KY / Cincy. Unfortunately, when you don’t have the management and staff taking care of it it’s all for nothing. Big changes needed or this theater will be closed in 5 years. Avoid this theater...

Wish I could give 0 stars. I am writing this with tears running down my face. My 9 year old son is standing next to me also crying. We were at an afternoon movie that was packed, seeing the Avengers: Endgame. We had got our tickets a month in advance and our whole family had been looking forward to going. My husband, my daughter, my son and I went out and bought Marvel t-shirts especially for the movie.
20 minutes into the movie we were asked to leave. Apparently because my husband who has heavy breathing because he is overweight was breathing too loud for the man next to him. The man never said anything to us either.
I will NEVER go to this movie theater ever again! We might be just one little family but, you can bet whenever we are invited to go a movie with any of our friends or family we WILL NOT be going to AMC.
After we were extorted out by someone, I wanted to talk to the manager. The lady who escorted my family and I out said she was the manager but, I could speak to the GM. He came over to us and began to tell us that the man that was sitting next to my husband had paid to enjoy a movie and my husband's breathing disrupted his movie experience. Well, we too had paid to see the same movie.(1 man & his date vs a family of 4) My husband even suggested that he sit in the middle, away from the gentleman next to him. So he was not bothering him. They said no, we have to leave. We also knew going to see such a anticipated movie, on opening weekend, that had been sold out for two week, we were going to be in a full theater and there is a possibility that we would have some inconveniences.
Instead of my son having a enjoyable experience and a good memory with his Mother, Father and Sister seeing his favorite superheroes, he now has a bad memory of the whole thing.
*Also, the lady that was with the man next to my husband was recording the movie and when talking to the GM I told him this, he told me we aren't talking about her we are talking about you. Which I am sure is why they were upset about my...
