Gateway 26 — Attraction in North Wildwood

We love crane machines, so when we heard of this place during our vacation, we couldn’t wait to check it out. It is one of the biggest arcades I’ve ever been to, and they have a huge supply of crane machine games. We easily spent a ton of money! It was fun at first, but quickly became frustrating after realizing the crane machines are a joke. They pick up the prizes and drop them as soon as the arm moves. Now, let’s talk about the giant claw game. Our nemesis. It was even worse because it had a stuffed otter as a prize (my favorite animal of all time.) We put the most money into that machine and won nothing. In the several hours we spent there, we saw many people try, but saw only one person win. During one of our last tries, we were able to get the otter halfway in the door, but accidentally got the claw stuck for the second time. According to many signs in the place, getting a prize halfway in the door should qualify as a win. However, for this one particular employee, it did not. He very rudely scolded us for getting the claw stuck again, and took our offer and threw it back in the pile. During his tantrum, he managed to squish down all the prizes, making it nearly impossible to move anything. Needless to say, we were very mad. We had worked very hard to move that otter forward. GW26 has and always will be the best place to go to, to have fun. I’ve been going there since I could walk. The employees are sooo nice, there always friendly and ready to help you, especially Danny, not once did I have to wait for someone to fix a machine, or give me coins. He was always making sure I was having the best experience. He definitely deserves a raise of something special, because he was amazing. The arcade also has a huge variety of games, it’s great for kids but it’s also very fun for adults. No matter what this will be one of the mosg fun arcades I’ve ever been to. Also the people that say the crane games are rigged, are being cheap and expect to win every time, i’ve been going there for 12+ years and every time I’ve done the kilometer ends I’ve won at least five things each time I’ve gone there. And I myself am an owner of a crane Machine, and it’s not exactly rigged what they do is they can set the strength on a crane machine so that every 50 or 25 plays, The crane gets stronger and is able to pick up the prize. You just need to know what cranes are about ready to pick up a prize. And then you...

I've been visiting Wildwood since I was a baby. A Wildwood vacation isn't complete without Gateway 26. HOWEVER... Now that I'm an adult and not an oblivious idiot, I caught on to some things.

My daughter won a pair of Beats headphones by Dr. Dre out of a claw machine. Immediately after she won, another girl won. I heard one of the workers say, "Two in a row? It malfunctioned. Cut the Beats machine." Next thing you know, the machine is turned off with tape over it. We leave and come back about 3 hours later, and the machine is back on!

I have witnessed the claws open while the item was still being lifted. They put glass down in certain machines to make it harder to pick up the items.

Be prepared to spend A LOT of money to win nothing special. You need an INSANE amount of tickets to get anything decent, just like any other arcade.
