My original review was positive, but after a lot of thinking I decided I needed to redo this review.
I bought a felt triathlon bike from Bill & team. From the get go communication was poor; I had to reach out for updates constantly which felt odd. I’m glad I called to check because two times I was told it would be ready for a test ride, it wasn’t; which leads me to believe they rushed the build.
I paid extra to go tubeless, but both tires failed to hold pressure, so both times I geared up to ride my brand new bike, I had to cancel and go back.
The kicker was being charged for cockpit upgrades. While they are nice upgrades I thought he billed me for it in the price I paid; but I begrudgingly paid the extra ~$400 to not feel as If I stiffed them, but I’m very unhappy about how I was guilted into it by Karen after Bill had only briefly mentioned it to me at the beginning of the pickup process. Very awkward experience.
The fit was off. I had another fitter check the bike fit I had received and the cockpit was too far back and too high, and the seat was too far forward. This made my hands numb and a sore back after my longer 4 hour training rides. After a re-fit, I was more comfortable and I was —at peak output—putting out 200-300 watts more than before. So the fit was way off and some of my pedal issues that bill pointed out were more due to fit than bad habits as he suggested.
As much as I wanted to like this shop, the staff who were involved with my purchase overall did a subpar job. Instead of being excited about a new bike, I was left feeling bad about the whole ordeal. I do not plan on returning and I hope nobody else has to have this kind of experience here when dropping this kind of money...
Read moreTwo weeks ago, I had a bike fitting by Bill at cyclical nature. I’ve ridden two hundred miles since and it feels great! Much improved positioning so that each pedal stroke now feels fully productive and therefore both more comfortable and faster. I’ve done a half Ironman and some centuries in my past on my previous fitted bike so I had mistakenly thought with that experience I would know if I was out of position. Glad I fixed that mistake.
I also feel safer. My left arm is 5 inches shorter than my right arm and this year I’d begun group riding with Columbus outdoor pursuits. I realized due to my short reach I was having trouble making a tight right turn. Bill raised my handlebars and brought them closer so I would have better reach. I’m still learning the pace I can now make a safe turn but feel like I’m no longer a risk to myself and those riding with me.
Bill spent the most time tweaking the left areobar so that the pad was the correct height and so that I could still hold the bar beneath the pad when I was in upright position. My weak arm and wrist limits the amount of time I can be upright. I really appreciate time put into my personalized areobar set up. I’ve ridden most of a recent 50 miler down in the adjusted aerobars with so much more comfort and also speed than the way I had set them up.
Bill and his team shared options for upgrades to easier breaking and shifting that would help my arm even more. I felt no pressure to buy them and didn’t buy them.
Without hesitation I recommend getting a bike fitting by Bill at cyclical nature. My husband witnessed my results and he made an appointment for a bike...
Read moreI have always made a conscious effort to support local businesses, but my recent experience with this shop was nothing short of disappointing. After receiving a bike fit that didn’t meet expectations, I reached out to the owner via text, politely requesting adjustments. To my dismay, I was met with a curt, rude, and dismissive response, which left me feeling deeply disheartened.
The situation escalated further when I attempted to address the issue by phone. Shockingly, Bill, the owner, began yelling aggressively and even threatened to involve law enforcement. I was left bewildered and concerned by his irrational behavior, as his reaction seemed entirely disproportionate and alarming. Thankfully, Karen, the kind front desk administrator, was able to offer some insight, suggesting that perhaps I had inadvertently hurt Bill’s pride in his shop. I want to be clear that this was never my intention, as I had genuinely appreciated my previous visits and hoped for a positive resolution.
However, after being treated with such hostility and dismissiveness, I can no longer in good faith recommend this establishment. As a paying customer, I anticipated professionalism, respect, and a willingness to ensure a satisfactory service, especially regarding something as critical as a proper bike fit. Unfortunately, this interaction has left me feeling profoundly let down and disillusioned with the shop.
Customer service is the cornerstone of any business, and in this case, it was...
