Really, really bad attitudes from every cashier. Used to shop here occasionally, and would instantly be brought to peace every time I walked through the doors; now I just tense up. The past two times I've come in, I've had really terrible experiences. My main problem was with one of the cashiers, whose name I believe was Clare! :) She waved us over to her register without saying a word. We had to clarify that she was communicating with us, and she just nodded. We walked over still not a word. I happened to pick up something that didn't have a barcode on it. My mom and I were very light hearted and jokey about the fact that we managed to pick the one out of 10 or so without a barcode. Now this came from the art aisle which is the aisle closest to the doors/register. Not to be entitled or anything, but I've worked in retail for a hot minute and if a customer grabbed something without a barcode, I would happily run and grab them another one. Instead she interrupted another woman who I believe to be the manager, (who was almost as unpleasant as her), while she was on the phone, and told her "I'm gonna need a bar code". Girl..... The woman who I believe to be manager proceeded to say "Well I'm gonna have to look it up".... Like I said the item was not very far at all from the register so I'm not sure what the disconnect was there. I don't work there and I know the general area of where they keep things, just needed to grab a new one. As my mom goes to grab a new one from the aisle herself, so she could scan it rather than having her terrible manager finish her phone call, and then "look it up", this girl decided to give my mom a look that was just appalling. I grabbed my mom and we walked out. I ended up coming back a little later and purchased the item from a different cashier, because I refused to let that girls absolutely disgusting attitude ruin my shopping trip. If you don't like your job, literally every single other store in that strip mall is hiring. Another thing I noticed is no matter how long you've been walking around, even if you look like you're having trouble finding something, you will never be asked if you need help finding anything. When you walk in through the doors you can yell out hello, and no one will respond to you. This is literally corporate's worst nightmare. I'm so glad that I'm not crazy or being hypersensitive and everyone else in their yelp reviews is talking about the decline in their customer service. I have a return to take back that is just sitting in my house because I haven't built up the willpower to come back. So definitely heading to the location in Naperville instead. I love this company so much, so it's unfortunate that this location is run by such crummy...
Read moreFirst time visiting this location. Might I add I drove an hour to get to because my significant other was determined to buy some teas and a mug for their bosses birthday here. We unfortunately arrived close to closing time (545pm) but had 2 specific things to get so split up in our search. I went straight to the teas and my significant other went looking for the mugs which she finally found towards the front of the store. I grabbed the teas and heard on the speaker that the store was closing in 5 minutes to start to bring up final selections. So i proceeded to walk towards my significant other and my son in the mug aisle to grab them to pay. I literally walked up to them said "ready" just as i said that and we were starting to walk towards the register "they just announced we are closed its 6pm please bring up final selections" and a straight long haired man came from behind and started literally yelling at my family. He said "I already announced we are closed you have to get out of here, go" . To which I responded "we were already heading to the front and the intercom just announced you were closed." And he replied "exactly we are closed" and escorted us to the register as he continued to reprehend us. I don't argue with closure times but there are ways.. he could have just said "we ate closed now may you please head up front" or even visibly see we already were walking. He was the same gentleman that when we walked in the store at 545pm said "you know we close at 6pm". I replied just picking up a tea. So I guess he had some where urgent to go even before the store closed. Anywho unless you want to be treated rudely by the man with the straight long hair I a pony tail than...
Read moreWorld Market is truly a unique store with a plethora of well-crafted items that hold appeal for a wide range of shoppers. From the tactfully-situated furniture pieces to the vegan beard oil, there is truly something for everyone at a feasible price. While perusing the large, refurbished warehouse-style shop, I stopped to assess the quality of multiple items. I felt that in terms of material, stitching, and design in regards to decorative homeware pieces, quality was exemplary- particularly considering that World Market is a large chain / franchise entitity. I also objectively assessed ingredients for a variety of products in the category of soaps, skincare, etc. and can confidently say that there has been much care taken to ensure sustainability and other mindful considerations, which is highly important to me as a shopper. I also appreciated the care with which displays were posed. For example, accessories with delicate/ intricate design targeted towards a more mature audience had front-display signage stating the intentionality of age (12+), as shown in the photos below. Small details such as this have solidified World Market as an excellently-maintained, mindful, holistic shop I will definitely be returning to. Who knows, I may walk in for a bundle of sage and come out with an array of candles and throw...
