Anytime Fitness — Attraction in Omaha

Pros: Plenty of equipment, location is great for downtown, and staff are friendly. Cons: Parking is always a struggle so if you live downtown and can walk great. The reason for 3 stars is in regards to the gyms membership/cancelation policy. Like several others I've recently moved out of state. I gave ample verbal notice but didn't realize till after I left, they wanted it in writing despite me not using the gym in over 2 months. Maybe I was partially spoiled from my last Anytime location. As an out of state student they fully understood my needs and were very kind in working with me, including canceling over the phone. My last Anytime also charged very fair market value prices for their fitness drinks, and foods. This gym does take about a 30% markup over your general retail or even gas station prices. I understand the need to run a profitable business but for those who join this gym be prepared, they will squeeze out every penny. This gym is problematic on a number of levels. First, unless you are in walking distance from it, expect to pay for parking, which, depending on your frequency of gymgoing will be higher than the gym membership.

Secondly, while I understand they are doing some renovations to the bathrooms, there was a tangible mist/smell of mortar and drywall dust in the air.

Thirdly, while the new bathrooms don't appear to have showers in them, the one shower was located in a community bathroom. Not ideal, but whatever. While the shower itself had a door, it had no locks so unless your purposely making loud noise while changing, anyone can easily just walk in on you, "accidentally" or otherwise.

Finally, and the most egregious really was the lack of and quality therein of the equipment. The multipurpose room was barren, and the equipment on in the main room was lacking.

I spent about 10 minutes here and then just drive over to the AF in Council Bluff which was a radical improvement.

This has been a very reliable gym! I was a member of my old gym for 10 years, but when my work schedule changed I needed something that was open 24 hours. I found my match! This gym is smaller (both in size and number of members) so it might not appeal to people explicitly looking for larger, warehouse size areas with dozens of people. But, it also makes things more focused, and I've never been there with more than 10 other people, so the competition for equipment is always low. This gym is also more training focused, with coaches that are highly knowledgeable and down to Earth, and will customize whatever fitness goals you want into achievable milestones. It's also close to the interstate, making easy access! It has all the main machines, dumbells, racks that a gym should have, and for the price it's a good deal with friendly clientele.
