Went to James and Sons Jewelers to pick up a necklace for a friend. My friend entered a contest sponsored by this jewelry store. She won the contest. Instead of mailing her the prize, the jewelry store wanted her to pick it up. My friend would have had to drive over 500 miles to pick it up. I offered to pick it up for her because I am not too far away from two of their stores. She let the store know that I would be picking it up. I went to their store. The manager told me that the necklace was at one of their other stores. Her attitude was abrupt and rather rude. I asked if their store could just mail it to my friend. She said that it would be impossible and that the mail person would need a signature. I told her that this would be no problem. She then said I could come back in a week and pick it up. I came back in one week. I was told that it was at a different store. Fortunately, the manager was not there and I spoke with a different employee. She was very nice and said that it was a shame I had to make two trips to their store. She also said that the necklace could be mailed to the contest winner. She gave me her card and told me to call her if my friend didn't receive her gift in a timely manner. She was very pleasant and helpful. My friend did finally receive her gift. I do feel that because of the way the entire thing was handled and the disconnect between their stores and communication between staff members, I cannot recommend this store. I was disappointed because I had been looking for a jewelry store to have my diamond jewelry cleaned. I will look elsewhere. I am grateful for the one staff member who was actually helpful...
Read moreGreat Barnes and Noble. I like the two stories cause I go to the Starbucks upstairs and go sit in the Cafe by the window and watch all the people trying to park their cars. It cracks me up. The parking lot is always busy, so if that makes you nervous at all, you might prefer the Barnes in Bolingbrook. I always get the quiche... And they only had the southwestern quiche tonight...which is not bad... Hint of heat, but I prefer the spinach artichoke quiche which is hit or miss at some of these starbucks. The two cashiers I saw tonight were both super friendly and funny, so I enjoyed talking to them... And freaking them out a bit. (What can I say... I'm sick. :-P)
Compared to other Barnes, it's nice... Good selection, not too spread out, always hopping but not overcrowded. Also great location, which is why I give...
