To be fair, I haven't been to the movies in a while. But, I won't be back to this theater. Here is my experience in order of most important to least: We went to see Moana 2. Very much a children's movie. Due to the previews they chose to show, I now have to explain Marijuana and Opiod overdoses to my kid. I provided this feedback to staff and was told NCG has no control over what previews are shown. Thats whack. It was $50 for 3 people to see this movie. The only concessions we got were a "mini combo box" ($9.00) and a candy ($5.25). There was no item on the menu less than $5. They also have no control over their ticket sales, apparantly. When I bought my tickets online, the option to buy a children's ticket was not apparant. I asked to fix it once we got there and I have to fix it online. I called due to that ticket situation previously. The person who answered the phone said they needed to ask their manager and be right back. I think they just set the phone down and forgot about it. Fast forward 30 minutes and I was still waiting. Hung up and called back, the call wouldn't go through (I am assuming because the phone was left off the hook) People in the theater were carrying on conversations and texting throughout the movie. It doesn't matter if your phone is on silent - this is a huge distraction to anybody sitting near you or behind you. HUGE disappointment all around - at least the movie was good. Wish I would've just waited until it came out outside...
Read moreThis theater is nice with caveats. The two main screens are fine. Nice and big, and the stadium seating is great. No complaints about comfort or cleanliness or anything. The smaller screens can be actually quite small. In the age of big screen TVs, I find to really get my money's worth, I have to sit pretty close. In one or two of the screens, the aisle goes up the center. The best seat in the house is always in the middle, so if you are in Theater 1, you're either on the side or on the stairs. The A/C runs cold in summer. And in winter it can take some time to warm up, so if you're seeing a matinee, wear a coat.
But overall, this is a great little theater. It's awesome that there are 7 screens. It's always clean. The staff is great. Technical issues (which have happened) are usually resolved quite quickly. It's not much to look at on the outside, so it's a pleasent surprise when you go in. It is approaching time for a makeover, but for being the only theater in town, I have to give it credit. It's still not as nice as the next-closest theaters, like Flint or Lansing, but I think the pros outweigh the cons here. It's a good place to go catch a film, as long as you're not...
Read moreWhen Owosso Cinemas first became part of the NCG franchise, they REALLY stepped up their game, they opened up the older part of the theater that has laid dormant for quite some time, they started the club card where you were able tho earn free tickets, the theater was CLEAN, the concessions were in combos that while expensive, were feasible for people going to a movie once a month. My son and I would go, get 2 tickets, a large popcorn, 2 large pops, all in collector things, for around $25. NOW the last 2x we went, it was DIRTY, the tickets were more expensive, you don't earn free tickets with the club card anymore, just popcorn, there are NO MORE combos! Everything was RIDICULOUSLY priced, for 3 of us to go, get 3 large pops and a large popcorn in collector, the pop was watered down and gross, it was almost $60! Now that's just insane, I can go to the IMAX in Lansing, have comfortable leather seating, same stuff in collectors, with better taste, plus they have plastic tops so you can flavor your popcorn and shake it, FOR MUCH LESS!!! NCG needs to get their eye on this branch, there's a reason there's only 10 people in the showing of Deadpool 2 on opening...
