This review is specifically for the spa services at pagosa springs resort. I visited the spa for a girls trip for our 30th birthdays. We were told that the resort is going through renovations and everything about the spa will be bigger/better in another year, so this review takes place before updates.
Reservations / Site: We had issues off the bat with reserving spa services. My friends and I did a group call to try and coordinate service times so we could get massages around the same time. During our call, the 4 of us trying to access the website and plan things out managed to crash the site. We could see no times, or times displayed improperly and we were unable to book services. As we were dedicated to the trip we attempted again individually and some of us continued to struggle with the site, while some of us managed to book for the rest of us. I work in IT and the fact that the site could not handle 4 users needs to be looked into. It would be completely easy to script this site into an unusable state if any person wanted to. So much money is going towards updating the resort renovations, the same amount of thought needs to go into the sites functionality or it will only continue to be worse. I also found it interesting that I was able to book service times well in advance, I was then called a month before the trip and asked to move those times because that is when they actually had the schedules of the masseuse and aesthetician. It feels clunky to allow booking, but then later have to change times when you get the 'real' schedule. To top it off during that call the secretary must have messed all our our groups times around. When we actually showed up for our trip they had all of our names/times messed up and we had to spend 30 minutes to sort it all out. The entire reservation process needs some work.
San Juan massage: Christie was a wonderful masseuse and really worked into some pressure points on my body. I loved when she placed a warm towel underneath my neck and then proceeded to work specifically on the neck area. It's like she knew I hold all stress in my shoulder/neck area and overall the massage was well worth it. Near the end she had wrapped my feet in these towels that were soaked in some type of oil I'm assuming. I'm not sure if I had an allergic reaction or if the oil was supposed to produce a hot tingly feeling to relax the feet area but my feet continued to tingly and burn for the next couple of hours 😬. If I ever figure out what that oil was I would probably request not to have it next time
Rejuvenation Facial: Morgan was super sweet and this was my first every facial experience. I asked about some bumps on my face and she was super knowledgeable and promised to try and work on those areas. The facial consisted of hot towels being placed on the face followed by different creams and masks. While the masks set Morgan would lightly massage other areas of the body which was super enjoyable as it helped me concentrate not just on how my face was feeling. Near the end I was so relaxed I think I fell asleep during the scalp massage and Morgan left sun butter on my face to leave with. She left me with a pamphlet of all the products used and advised me to hydrate properly as my skin needed it. I was told honey was left on my lips as well and I wish I would have wiped it off. My lips are now cracking and bleeding 1 day later. Colorado typically makes me quite dry so I am not sure if the cracking was due to the facial or just typical dryness but it does distract from how nice the facial made me feel to now have to deal with side effects of the trip. Not anyone's fault but I may not opt to continue with facials going forward, massages...
Read moreWe visited the The Springs on 1/18/22 and had a wonderful experience. We booked a 90-minute couples massage, and it was wonderful. Our massage therapists were David H. and Amy B. They were amazing, very professional, and my husband and I both agreed that it was the best massage experience we have ever had. Can not recommend them enough. I definitely recommend booking spa services if you are planning to go to the hot springs because it includes the cost of a day pass to access the hot springs. It also gives you additional perks like unlimited towels, robes and free lockers. We felt completely pampered as soon as we arrived. The ladies at the front desk in the spa and bathhouse were all extremely welcoming and helpful. We went on a Tuesday and arrived around 9:30. Our first stop was at the Cafe for crepes, which we very much recommend. Because we got there early and on a week day the pools weren't busy at all. I highly recommend hitting The Cliffs pool located across the rope bridge as the sun is coming up. It was misty and beautiful in the morning, and we were the only ones in that pool. I also recommend taking a plunge in the river if you are brave enough. It was fun and a great memory. Make sure someone records you! :) The crowds started picking up around noon, so we went and grabbed lunch at Kips. This was another perk of booking spa services because you are allowed to come and go throughout the day. If you buy a day pass only, you can not leave the pools to eat and then return. Our massages were at 3:00, so we ate lunch and then went back to our air bnb for a power nap. After our massages, we went back over to the pools for some more soaking. It was the most relaxing spa day, and just what we needed after a couple days of skiing. It was a little more crowded when we returned to the pools at 4:30, but started thinning out again around 7:00 as people were heading to dinner. I had seen some reviews about the bathrooms/locker rooms being unclean or too small and the showers being cold. This was not our experience at all. The locker rooms were very clean, and the showers weren't hot, but I felt they were comfortably warm. I'm very cold natured and didn't find the showers to be unpleasantly cold or uncomfortable. Overall, we had a great experience and would highly recommend The Springs to anyone. We hope we can visit...

Wow this room was shabby. Probably converted a work shed into a room a few years back. Couch and ottoman look like it was picked up from a bulk trash day off the curb. Kitchen table and stools so uncomfortable and poorly placed they were basically unusable. No other chairs than the dingy couch and unstable bar stools. Oven belched smoke when trying to use it as a toaster (hint no toaster) because it had not been cleaned properly. Kitchenet was sparkly stocked, dish towel was never replaced even after leaving a note and tip. Beach towels were taken on the first day, never restocked, and again, even with a note asking for replacements. Go to the grocery if you want to use the Keurig, never restocked the pods. When calling the front desk it rang and rang, then went to voice mail. Called from an outside line, someone picked up but unable to transfer us to the person who could help book a massage.
That said, the hot springs were great. But eventually, especially in winter, with dirty or absent towels, wet robes (started out nice but thankfully they just left us the wet ones instead of taking those with the beach towels), no morning coffee, and no place to comfortably sit, you start to feel a little left out...
