Every year for the last 7 years I have taken my son to get his picture taken with Santa. I have 6 hand puppets of various Christmas characters, one for every year but this year after much anticipation in finding out this years addition to our puppet collection and we were presented with 3 gold coins in a bag (they were not chocolate) in a little purple bag.Unable to bury my curiousity I asked about the puppets that I had started collecting traditionally but much to my dismay I was informed they no longer gave them out. Hiding my disappointment I kindly walked away when I noticed the tag attached to this little purple bag filled with gold plastic coins. The tag explained that you could visit the "Kidz Korner" for a special prize. Let me tell you, I wish that I had childhood memories in this cute little shop. In the corner a table with a cupful of candycane pens and stationary for your child to write a letter to Santa. Back to these 3 little coins.. my son got to personally pick 3 items in this store,baskets of all types of goodies from potpourri to lotions, magnets and handmade soaps. He picked his 3 items and paid with his coins and went home and wrapped them with delight. The joy in my son's eyes on Christmas morning when he got to give his presents out is by far better than any hand puppet they could have given. If you are a local or just passing through Santa at The Gardens Mall is definitely a memory for the books!
