Fast Fix Jewelry and Watch Repairs — Attraction in Palm Desert

I brought my engagement ring here to be resized and to have a bezel added to the stone which would remove the prongs. This is a 14ct WHITE gold ring with a 8mm by 6mm sapphire rated at 1.33ct. The bezel that was installed was not made by this jeweler, but was pre purchased. The bezel covers the stone all the way to the plateau and covered more than 2mm of width and 1mm of length which significantly reduced the light transmission within the stone. When Roberto quoted the fix, he said it would be a thin bezel and would be the same color as the ring. As you can see by the pictures, the bezel is yellow gold and does not match the color of the rest of the ring. The order was also to reduce the size of the ring by a 1/2 size. The size was the ONLY thing he got right. Except, he did not fix the Rhodium coating on the band and now that looks like yellow gold now, and is no longer white in color. My fiance picked the ring up today and is extremely unhappy with the results. When Roberto was asked to fix the issues, he was extremely rude and refused to help us further unless we paid the same fees again that we paid to have the original work done. We are extremely unhappy with the quality of work and horrendous customer service provided at this store. Would give zero stars if that was an option. I have had 3 watch batteries replaced, all with a 5 year warranty. One of my watch batteries stopped after 18 months. I went back to the store to have it replaced in February. I was told it was not under warranty anymore. As I did not bring my receipt I didn't argue with the sales clerk. They replaced my battery and charged me $24.95 for a 5 year battery. When I got home I checked my receipt and I had purchased a 5 year warranty. Unfortunately Covid-19 hit and I was not able to get back to the store to ask for a refund for several months. When I finally got to the store, I was told the manager was not in and to come back. I kept phoning to see when the manger was in. It seems he only comes in once a week (maybe). On June 13/20 I finally met with the manager. He said he would issue me a refund. They also changed the date on the battery so I only have 3 years left. It is now August 11 and I have not seen any refund on my credit card. In my opinion, the person who changed my battery out right lied about the warranty just so they could sell me another battery. I'm in Palm Desert, Day 2, from Massachusetts for the winter. Yesterday I dropped my Concord watch and the crystal broke. I did a bit of Internet research on getting it fixed and Fast Fix seemed like a good bet. I was a tad nervous but when you're not on your home turf one must take chances. I was so NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!

The shop was busy, 3 people ahead of me, but the repairs were completed and I was in and out in 15 or so minutes. The gentleman who took care of me was empathetic, knowledgeable about his craft and very personable. At the start of my conversation we talked about the repair and I asked, How much? Apparently he said $30. I say apparently because when he gave me back the watch I asked, How much was that again, did you say $28? He responded, close enough. I was confused and said, "close enough? Seriously- what do I owe you?" He said $28. When we got outside my partner asked me why did I chisel him of $2? He told you it was $30. I felt like a putz and will return tomorrow to give him the other $2.
