Spent four nights at the All Worlds in late August, and I will not be returning. The bad experience started with check-in: there were three employees sitting in the office, but only one was assisting guests, so check-in took almost 30 minutes.. not exactly a pleasant welcome after spending 6+ hours traveling to get to arrive.
Next, the hotel leaves the air conditioning off in the rooms, so when shown to our room it was even hotter inside than the 110 degree outside temp! (in fact, 8 hours later, it still was unbearably hot in the room, but eventually cooled down to a somewhat cool temperature).
The hotel has 4 pools, but all of them of them are in poor condition. Worse than the pools however are the lounge chairs. The chairs at main pool has disgusting, old yellow chairs that are sagging so badly that you can't lay down comfortably, and I'm just 130 lbs, so not a big guy by any stretch. For four pools, there were 2 noodles and one old raft available. The lack of pool toys isn't a deal breaker, but not what is expected at this type of resort.
Housekeeping was another bad road. The linens are inconsistent (some towels were fairly nice, others felt like sandpaper). Pool towels were only refreshed if you made a specific request to the housekeeper. There was dirt over most of the room, but the shower was the worst. There was a anti-slip mat in the shower that looked like it had been there for years, and was covered in dirt. There were footprints stained into the shower basin as well.
As for the rest of the resort, the website boasts of a sauna and steamroom, but only expect those items to be turned on during a couple peak hours on a Friday night. The pool area misters were also only turned on during weekend hours.
Overall, this place cares about the locals visiting on day passes (or being let in for free by the front desk). There is parking, but not enough for the rooms, much less for the 50+ day pass visitors on a weekend. In fact, we were warned by the only employee with personality (the black guy) that if we left the property on a Saturday or Sunday, we'd likely have to find somewhere to park on the street several blocks away (so yeah, I'm paying $150 a night for this dump, but you're giving my parking space to a $20 day passer?!). There was no dancer at the pool on the weekend as advertised, and the "bbq" on Sunday afternoon was actually some bad pizza. You're also not welcome to bring a guest to the hotel without paying the $20 day-pass fee. They
I've stayed all over the world in hostels, 5 star hotels, and other gay resorts, and this one was by far the worst.
The guy with the slicked down hair at the front desk who needs to wear a belt, at the front desk has got to go, the day passers need to be treated like visitors and not as superiors to the overnight guests, and the grounds need a...
Read morePositives: Great location, walkable to downtown shops and restaurants. Beautiful view of the mountains from the main pool. Person cleaning the rooms did a great job, and was always courteous and professional. Met some nice people. Sunday barbecue is a nice social event, with great burgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings.
Negatives: Other than the guy cleaning the rooms, staff is hands-off, and not attentive to small things like full trash cans, empty coffee pot that needed refilling in the morning, empty toilet paper dispenser in the public bathroom, and full ashtrays.
Our room had a paper-thin door connecting to the adjoining room. Could hear EVERYTHING the guy was doing next door. He kept his TV on 24 hours a day (even when he wasn't in his room). I asked politely if I could move to a new room, and was told by the person at the front desk that it would be a $35 housekeeping charge. This was a Tuesday morning when the place was empty, and my room hadn't been cleaned yet.
Lights in the rooms are all fluorescent, which is cold and glaring.
They overcharged me for 2 nights. Check your receipt. As a positive, they apologized and corrected it quickly.
Neutral: Morning coffee comes with food on weekends. The food consists of shrink-wrapped pastries like the kind you get out of vending machines. Nothing accompanies the coffee on weekdays. Powdered creamer only.
Summary: Stay elsewhere (like Canyon Club, which is far better) and get a day pass for...
Read moreNot really sure why this place is called a resort and not a bathhouse Hotel. It has none of the amenities of Resort. You can find a pool and hot tub in any hotel or house in Palm Springs. however can be enjoyable from time to time if you make the most of it and depending on the staff.for example Mike is not very hospitable for being in the hospitality industry. In fact very rude for instance when you and your party show up and pay $25 to get in for a couple hours, walk to find your Locker turn around and walk back to your car, and then back through the door only to be asked for your receipt that you were given... which you would put in your locker.... I understand that it is there policy to ask for a receipt but when you're the only people through the door in that time frame, to be nothing short of bullied by the desk clerk (Mike), it leaves much to be desired. Going forward reserving a room a month later and Mike takes your ID, types all your information into the computer and then tells you that you are on the "do not rent to list" and that you need to talk to a manager about it. When it was completely obvious that the clerk put you on that list when he took your ID. When asked if he did, he couldn't even look up or say no, just "talk to a manager" honestly I don't understand why the gay community tolirate this kind of Behavior from gay establishment. 5 stars for...
