Loved the spot. Everyone was respectful with their dogs. WARNING What I was not aware of however, was that dogs can get salt water poisoning. It was our 5 yr old German shepherd mix first time at the beach and she loved "rescuing us" and swimming. However she got violently ill afterwards. She threw up and was extremely lethargic. We called the emergency vet here in town and he had us monitor her and she got better thankfully and he saved us a ton of money, but I hope this post saves someone. Our dog over exerted herself and had waves above her head and even though we had fresh water for her, it was not enough. If you want to come, monitor your dog, dont let them drink the water, give them fresh water, and dont let them get in over their head or play with toys soaked with salt water. It took our dog several days to return to normal and it could of been so much worse. Read up on salt water toxicity in dogs and...
Read moreBeing from SD, I can say it was a pretty good beach with soft sand, cleanish water, and we just happened to go for our first time on a perfect day. Our dog seemed to have a good time. Every dog I’ve observed has been leashed or otherwise in control by their owner. I also didn’t encounter any dog poop.
For a beautiful Saturday, it still wasn’t too crowded in contrast to what I’m used to. It looks like there’s a good amount of food options I’m excited to try. The beach police are constantly patrolling and making sure citizens are behaving. There’s a tourist helicopter frequently flying overhead.
Note: the green chairs and umbrellas by the pier are actually RENT only, so use it for free until an employee comes around demanding $10+ or so, at which you either decide to pay or move off the chairs. Chairs are owned by...
Read morePanama City, Heralds itself as a dog friendly beach. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. The dog beach is literally 100 yards right next to the pier. It is not a dog park. It is not fenced, and you cannot take your dogs off of the leash. And they do not keep it exclusively for owners and their dogs so they are all kinds of crowded people on their blankets and chairs within the tiny little corner of the world. They allow you to bring your dog with you to the beach.
Come on Panama City Beach, you can do much better than that . Either go to doing what most other beaches are allowing in that dogs can be on the beach after 7 PM and before 9 AM. or give us an exclusive area of beach where we can let the dogs off the leash and don’t have to worry about other people complaining about our...
