Calypso Resort and Towers (Towers I & II) — Hotel in Panama City Beach

We stayed at tower 3 on the 4th floor. Condo was great, However we were not told about construction going on next to the building or in the other condos that started promptly at 6/7am even on the weekend's. The pullout couch: asked for a blanket and pillows for 3 days they finally gave us a blanket on the 3rd day, still no pillows. We were told we could only use our pool at tower 3 and people at towers 1 and 2 could not use ours (colored bracelets they give you) however my fiancé and I had to cram ourselves into the hot tub because people from the other towers were in tower 3 hot tub. They even said they sneaked over. The tiki bar closed at 5pm. My daughter was able to get a Virgin daiquiri the 1st day but then the next day we were told she couldn't get one because there was trace amounts of alcohol in them (per Colby the manager of the towers). We were also told when booking that we got the umbrella and beach chairs along with our week stay, come to find out that was not included and was $50 a day. When we paid almost $3000 to stay there for 4 nights! Everyone gave us the run around when we asked to speak to a manager. Emails sent, messages left and were told they would have to investigate, not to mention still no pillows! Parking was ridiculous, could not find a place to park at night. Very hard to unpack/pack your car and get to elevators. Someone also decided to throw their cigarette over the balcony when we were walking to go to the elevator and it hit my daughter in the head, luckily it was out! Not very happy about this vacation at all especially with the service (not having service at all but the run around with Colby and Pete). Nice location if you like to hear the helicopter tours fly over the building 24/7 as they are located right behind the parking garage and they fly over all day (even when your at the pool because there was double red flags at the ocean) and into the evening. Room was nice and location was great, that's about it. I would never recommend anyone to stay here nor will we ever stay here again. As other guests had even more problems that we met at the pool. Managers Colby and Pete need to learn better Customer Service! Never would meet us face to face or call us. Only emailed us back on the day before we were to leave when they were contacted way before!...

TLDR(too long didn’t read): stay anywhere but here.

2 years ago I would have recommended this place to everyone. This is our 6th year staying here now In a row and we most definitely will not be returning. Last year some changes caused us some annoyances such as our room wasn’t ready until almost 6pm, when it was supposed to be ready at 4pm on arrival day, and we ended up being put in a room with no wifi, when it clearly says WiFi as an amenity plus the cell service inside the towers is abysmal and you can only text over WiFi while inside of the towers. Despite these events we still decided to book our 10 person family vacation here again. We regret this decision and wish we had given our hard earned money to anyone else. Between the terrible customer service we’ve received from the resort staff to the terrible treatment of the guards in the parking garage when our codes wouldn’t work and being treated like it was our fault, after having 6 codes given to us and none of them working (3 days of dealing with security guards, and calypso staff to try and resolve this, we will find out if we can leave the parking garage tonight unassisted when we go to dinner). We didn’t even have bed sheets and blankets on 1 of our 3 beds the first night here, by the time we realized it and tried to notify staff no one was on site any longer or seemed to care. The next night when we returned from dinner we found we had been given sheets for that bed but still no blanket, when we asked about blankets we were told we needed to buy our own. The staff at poolside picks and chooses what rules to enforce, like some people can throw balls and jump in the water while other families are harassed and asked to leave for having their music too loud or for having a beer in their hand. (Everything mentioned here is against the pool rules but they don’t enforce them all) This place is completely ridiculous now and We will never stay here again. Period. If they offered us extra days to stay, we’d turn them down at this point and unfortunately I know it’s not even worth asking for a refund but I’d happily go somewhere else if I could get a refund or even afford to. Our family vacation has been terrible because of our experience here and we’ve decided just to return home for the rest of our week...

ALMOST HAD AN AMAZING STAY AT CALYPSO! The condo was spacious, and stocked with everything we needed for our 4 day stay! The garage codes were a little frustrating but once we got the bar code good and clear we had no trouble! We stayed in the beachfront tower room 906! Had no issues with the keypad on the door the views were breathtaking and I’ll definitely be staying here again! The kitchen had dishwasher and garbage disposal as well as a full laundry room with washer and dryer! All rooms had nice TVs and the wifi worked great all 4 days! The kitchen was fully stocked with all the pans and pots you would need to cook instead of spending a fortune eating out every night! The ONE and ONLY complaint I could muster if I wanted to be an absolute Karen would be the beds being really hard! But then again with trying to keep bed bugs and such away, I think it was necessary to have the mattress and covers they do! You can’t have food or drinks in the pool area at all BUT we are beach people so that didn’t really effect us! We had a blast and will definitely be back!

EDIT: SO SORRY TO DO IT BUT had to take away two stars because I woke up with what I KNOW to be bed bug bites😢😢 I’ve stayed in places with them before, so I know exactly what they look like, and how they effect my body and they are definitely bed bug bites! My brother booked the room on his card so I told him to message owner or management and make them aware but I had to heat treat and wash every single thing I had taken into our room at midnight when we got home before bringing it into my home😪 I REALLY loved the stay but the bed bugs are a major no for me🤦🏼‍♀️ I know I got the bites in the room because I have pictures with no bites on day one and about 10 bites waking up on the last day!
