American Vegan Center is an unexpected but very informative resource for those interested in veganism and the history of Philadelphia. The center is staffed by very knowledgeable people and the 90 minute walking tour is a must do! Who know that Ben Franklin was a vegetarian and had imported a tofu making kit in the USA over 200 years ago? The center has vegan food and merch for sale and even free samples when available! Must visit if you are a vegan or looking for some meaningful/educational tourist experience!

My son became a vegan 2 years ago and was very excited to visit the birthplace of veganism, Philadelphia. This little center had a wonderful gift shop and offers cooking demonstrations. They also have a list of the best vegan filly cheesesteaks in town. Definitely worth stopping in and saying "hi" to learn a little bit more about veganism and how to enjoy yourself in Philadelphia.

Discovered the Vegan Center on a guided walk through Old City. Great to learn, but not surprised that Philly was a pioneer in championing the vegan and vegetarian lifestyles. We look forward to doing their walking tour and finding gifts for our vegan friends.

This center is like a little Vegan visitor center located right next to many tourist spots in Philly. Veganism originated here, and this place serves as a remembrance to it. They offer walking tours, plenty of merch options, vegan books, photo-ops, and food. It's great for anyone in philly looking to try a vegan lifestyle as it opens many resources for them. We got a beanie, shirt, and a banana bread dessert which was very good. It's a nice quick stop for lunch for a busy day at independence hall...
