I went to Cottman Ave location about 1year & 1/2 ago. I went in to see if they could do my hair that day and they told me I had to make an appointment; which was understandable. I made my appt with Dana who was there the day I walked in & scheduled appt for the following week. I just wanted root touch up and hair trim & style. So the following week I arrived for my appt 10 min early. My hair was in a ponytail and she took me back n put me in her chair n put cape around me. As soon as she took my ponytail out and felt/seen my hair was very long & thick she told me “oh sorry we don’t have dark brown hair dye!” Now she was the one who scheduled my appointment week before and saw the color of my hair and also saw color of my hair when she Took me too the back to her chair. I knew right away that she just didn’t want to do my hair because it would take roughly 2 hrs and 2 men walked in right after me for hair cuts. After she refused to do my hair she went & got the 2 guys to do their cuts. Two months later my mom went there for the same service only she has black hair. She also has very thick hair! So that hair stylist (my mom didn’t get her name) but the lady took her to the chair n combed her hair then said “sorry we don’t have black hair dye!” Now natural/basic hair colors are blonde ( light or dark), brown (light or dark) then black; so you mean to tell me they don’t carry dark brown or black hair dye? I would never go there again!! That has never happened to me before and at the time I was about 50 years old! Never heard of that! I know my hair takes longer and is more work but I always tip accordingly; so her loss!!i will tell everyone I know not...
Read moreSuper disappointed! I went here a few days ago to get my hair colored, a 1/2 an inch cut off, washed, and blow-dried. I was charged 215.00 , and I gave the girl a 100 dollar tip! The money is not, and was not the issue.. I went in prepared to spend about 300 on My hair (without tip included) The issue was that my hair came out completely different then what I wanted. I showed a pic to the girl.. who was rushing so much that she got splatters of hair dye all over my dooney & bourke purse, and the shirt I took off and put on the shelf next to us- also a big glob of it fell on my sneaker too. I was supposed to get it dyed chocolate brown, and then get blonde highlights, and burgundy highlights.. instead she put just highlights , and you can't even see the burgundy - if it's even there.. who knows. They dont care, they already got my money. Anyway I went back yesterday, the hairdresser I got told me that my hair looks like I got blonde highlights put in, she can't see the burgundy, and there is nothing they can do for me. Just consider yourself warned. I, too read the reviews and thought "maybe some of these people are just trying to badmouth bc they are expensive" "maybe they are just trying to get something free" and then I went and dealt with what I dealt with. My hair looks nothing like what I wanted, just a basic blonde highlight. All I asked was they put the burgundy I already paid for in. I don't recommend, and I will not be returning. Shame on you hair cuttery...
Read moreSo back on August 6th around 12:30 I entered the salon and informed the lady at the front desk (older hispanic lady) I was a walk in for just a trim. She quickly advised me that they were fully booked for the day, and she said sorry. I said ok, thank you and was on my way. I went to my car to book an appointment before it slipped my mind, and online there were 10+ time slots ranging throughout the day available. I booked the next available, which was around 12:50. At this point I wasn’t concerned, I thought maybe they had an internal policy & could take only a limited amount of walk ins per day, or something like that; some internal rule they aren’t required to advise me of and can just say they are booked. I re-entered the salon at my now booked appointment time. A different lady was at the front desk and advised me to have a seat in the waiting area for a few minutes. To my surprise, and woman enters and asks for a walk in, and they take her. And actually, she gets pulled back before I do. While I’m in the chair, 2-4 clients come in, and I hear them say they have no appointment. This is the point where I’m frustrated, because I was just turned away 30-ish minutes prior & was informed they were booked FOR THE DAY. Very off putting experience . I paid and tipped and didn’t bother to cause...
