Having never been to Pittsburgh before, my husband, brother and I decided to take a walking tour of the city and booked with Walk the Burgh. It was one of the best decisions we made all weekend!
Our group was small (4 people), giving us all plenty of opportunities to ask questions and making it a more intimate experience. When one of our group lost his phone and decided to head back to some of our previous stops to look for it, Corrie, our tour guide, genuinely worried for him until he called to say he had found it. She then stayed on the phone with him until he found and rejoined our tour.
Corrie gave us an in-depth view of Pittsburgh and introduced us to hidden gems we would never have discovered on our own. Our two-hour tour became a 3+ hour tour. She was animated throughout, and her love, pride and knowledge of her city was evident from start to finish. She definitely did her fellow yinzers proud!
I highly recommend Walk the Burgh for those who want to experience the treasures of Pittsburgh through the eyes of those who...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited The Steel City for 3 days and chose to go on "The Black & Ghost" Tour on 9/25/20 at 6:30. A young lady named Corrie was our guide and from the initial greeting you could tell she was friendly and easy going. As the tour began we learned she was a life-long "Iron City" resident as her knowledge and, more importantly, passion came thru with every ghost tale. Corrie had even brought along for "show & tell" personal photos she had printed off the internet of ghost photos she had found at the hauntings with had visited. Tour was to be 90 minutes however with our group's enthusiasm it went over 2 hours which was fine. More ghost tales the better! Haunted sites ranged from The Heinz History Center (with a chilling photo Corrie provided) to the city jail with a very spooky tale and finally to a haunted toy store where dolls on the third floor seem to have young ghost visitors who play with the. Highly recommended as it was a learning experience and most...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo glad I went with Walk the Burgh as a way to introduce ourselves to Pittsburgh and its fascinating history, from the rise and fall of the industrial age/the gilded age (Carnegie, Mellon, Frick etc) to the second coming, beginning with the waterfront and the stadium (Heinz Field) in the third millennium. Kane, our very personable tour guide was/is first and foremost an impassioned communicator/talker. He paid attention to everyone and gave us room to ask questions which is/was no easy feat given his wealth of knowledge, that I'm sure far exceeds the allotted two hours. We covered a lot of ground but we never felt rushed. In the end, it was so much more than an architectural/ history lesson (he is a history major), it was entertainment and we felt much the richer for it. The only thing that was lacking was more info on the bridges (city of bridges) but there was only so much time and we have a thing called...
